Just wonderd what peoples thoughts are on Avram Grant Like him/Love him/Hate him?
Dis like him. Don't rate him as a manager at all.
At Chelsea he basically inherited Mourinho's team and had Steve Clark alongside him (the same man who's also helped turn around Liverpool this season).
With Portsmouth, they gave everything in the cup because there was no hope in the league. In a cup fixture, it's just do or die.
And with West Ham, he's just been abysmal. I think I read something along of lines of "West Ham have been in the relegation zone all season bar one week". Ridiculous.
Avram Grant - Lack of tactics, lack of gameplan, lack of motivation, lack of transfer nous - £6m on Barrea and Reid who couldn't even make the bench, lack of training, lack of fitness, lack of respect, alientaed players. Clueless, Portsmouth's cup run covered for how bad they were, Portsmouth's starting 11 weren't as bad as they performed in the league when Grant was there but the situation regarding money and everything covered that.
As bad as he is as a manager the fact is it was wrong to borrow a room at an opposition ground and give him the sack just after the game. They should have waited for the last game if at home then do it or hold a meeting at upton park after the season.

He would of got killed against Sunderland, it would of been mayhem, I would of feared for his and others security, he should of gone five months ago, he's had five months more pay.
But the players must take responsibility for the position they have found themselves in. Theres only one or two guys pulling their weight at West Ham, Scott Parker and maybe Demba Ba. Once the eleven are on the pitch its up to them.

Na Tomkins, Parker, Spector, Noble, Collison, Jacobsen, and most of all Green have pulled there way. It's not up to the eleven its down the tactics, playing strikers as left wingers, getting over run in midfield every game due to playing 3 against the oppositions four, players playing well and then randomly getting dropped.

Well yes he got the special ones squad and whereas he won the champions league and premiership, Mr grant got only one less percent of wins/draws and won nothing.
I think we've seen with Roy Hodgson this year that it depends on the team playing for you really.
Liverpool were 17th under Roy and will probs finish 5th, West Brom were 17th also when he took over and could finish 8th.
All swings and roundabouts really.
West Ham deserve to go down IMO, they've circled the drain the last few seasons and still sell all their best players only to buy the ones back that don't make it at bigger clubs.
Thats still only just over half a team so whats the other half of it doing. Playing out of position to a professional shouldnt really matter. I work with a local team and if a defender is asked to play up front they will. Yes its not the same level but if a guy who doesnt get paid can be used as a make shift striker and do a half decent job why cant a pro do it? Theres to much dumped on managers in the professional game.
Man Utd have played shockingly in a number of games this season. The players are the same players. Is that the managers fault? Its down to the players....

Who have we sold in the last few years?

It will make a difference playing out of positon if you have an out and out striker playing left wing they will be clueless add to the fact they can't defend to protect the left back or cross the ball.
Man Utd have tactics and class players, we had a manager is useless and some players who were easily good enough to survive.

Nice guy, but at the end of the day he's tactically inept. He was asked by a player before the chelsea game, "Shall we press or sit back against Essien and Lampard", to which he replied "You decide during the game".
Not good.
As El Wayneo said if the players don't want the manager they won't perform. It happened to Roy Hodgson. Liverpool are easily good enough to finish top 4 but those same players did not want Roy and the results got him the sack. When Kenny came along the players were uplifted and they began playing properly again. He was using the same players in the same positions...

The players didn't mind the manager as a person, it's just he was clueless, the players like Avram as he was an easy ride.
Who have we sold in the last few years?
Well players that are still doing well include;
Mascherano
Craig Bellamy
Yossi Benayoun
Pantsil
Lee Bowyer
Not a bad group of players that really.

.
Mashcerano was never ours was always Kia
Bellamy had to be sold for money and we got 14 mil which was quite good really
Benayoun did nothing in his final season, he's also a lying git, he can't play for twenty games yet will turn out Israel
We got like £3m for Pantsil that was great money, he's a dreadful player
Bowyer hasn't really done anything since and we haven't missed him, would take him in the CCC next year though

Mourinho never won the Champions League with Chelsea  (unless I've misunderstood).
Neither did Grant he lost on pens and I think lost the league and cup as well with a matter of weeks.

Grant did take them closer to winning it than Mourinho did though.

It was Mourinho's squad and Grant played no part in it, it was basically Terry/Ballack and Clarke running it, read the quotes from when he was there.

Mascherano is a Argentine international, he wasn't really going to stick around was he?
Bellamy was class, we probably shouldn't have sold him but at £14m, we couldn't say no.
What's Benayoun done lately? Hasn't been at his best for years. When a player wants to go to a big club like Liverpool, there's not really much you can do to stop them.
Pantsil.lol. Average right back who rarely makes it into the Fulham first team.
Bowyer, I'll give you that one.
A lot of it was needed, Eggert got us in a **** load of trouble with money. We HAD to sell.
If you want to know the reason we're going down, I'll tell you. It's down to the manager, the board and most of our players. Piquonne hasn't shown any fight at all the last few games, a shadow of the Piquonne at the beggining of the season. Carlton Cole has been too inconsistent and our centre backs need experience, considering Upson's been dropped.
I honestly believe that if the board hadn't undermined Grant throughout, we'd be higher up. If that ***** Brady kept her gob shut in the papers, maybe we would have? Inteference and criticism for those who know very little about football isn't really going to help, is it?
We need Brady out of this club, before we even start offloading players. She needs to go.

Upson hasn't been dropped all season, we reason we're going down is due to defence and strikers up until Jan.
I think the board spoke a lot as Avram was so incompetent at motivating and doing anything the board took it upon themselves.
Avram Grant = Legend
I agree with the Lions banner flown over their final game 100%. Gotta give him credit though, a lesser man would have jumped ship in January when they were trying to find someone gullible enough to take his job.
If those schmucks in the boradroom had any decency or respect for Football & it's fans they'd have stopped all their backstabbing, infighting & general Mike Ashley like behaviour they may have scraped safety.

Grant said he would stay even if we went down, he wouldn't of walked even if we went down next year as well, he just wanted the £££
Mike Ashely isn't that bad, has stuck absolute millions into Newcastle, he's a major part why they went back up straight away, hasn't sold anyone either except for Carroll for silly money.

Where did I say he was? He's was dropped in our last game. He SHOULD have been dropped earlier, hence my point about lack of experience at CB.
You don't undermine a manager, you sack him or back him, not 50/50. Believe me Grant isn't after the money, he'd earn as much in a DOF role at Chelsea, which he'll now practically walk into.

He wasn't dropped against Wigan he was still suffering from injury.

Would you rather play Upson at CB with Tomkins at RB (as we have done before this season), or a young Jordan Spence at RB with Upson on the bench?
I'm sure we'll both agree he's been useless though ;)
There was loads of stories that we were gonna drop him for the Blackburn game, but he was injured. It wouldn't surprise me if he was dropped.

Would of rather played Spence at CB tbh, Grant would of played Upson if fit, all the fans would of dropped him but Grant would of played him.
He will get it both barrels Sunday if he even plays
One of the best fans in the league last Sunday, four hours before the game in the pub singing, brillant atomsphere, took 5 k when we were are basically down on a long drive to wigan then even stayed in the ground for about 45 minutes at the end to clap parker and green and anybody else who had the respect to come over to us.

Yeah 16 of us hired a mini-bus and driver to go, look at the videos of the red robin on youtube, nothing like us, who else would take 5k when there are bottom basically down, five hours away and turn up four hours early and have it right up, the pub and ground were rocking from about 12.30 onwards.
We are one of a kind.

Yeah I read a few of ours were meeting up there on KUMB. Free coaches by the club though.
Did you hear about Parker getting punched?

I think the trains were sold out
Yeah read it afterwards, we didn't see it though or I think all hell would of broken loose if we had seen Super Scott get punched.

What I dont get if west ham and the players to maybe achieve a mid table finish, maybe a combination of SOME players under performing and grant not being a good enough manager
