I saw this on SSN, I don't even follow Rugby but that ******* needs to be sorted out.
Ban them both for a few weeks (say 8 or so) of next season. Ashton shouldn't have put his knee into the back of a player on the ground & Tuilagi should be in a boxing ring.
what I don't understand is that Wayne Barnes was the ref and he used to be a lot better and more fair than he comes across now...
Well Manu Tuilagi has goten a 5 week supension, reduced from 10 weeks. Just announced on BBC News.

That was some punch Ashton took, fair play to him for not going down. :p

He's ******* made of steel, right on the side of his face near his pressure point. That'd kill most of us :p
I think that punch is whats known in the trade as a sledgehammer ;)
Seriously, how that was deemed only a yellow is beyond me, its not like it was discrete or anything :)
I have to admit I did watch that punch quite a few times in slow-mo simply because I don't like Ashton. As for the yellow cards, I don't really mind, if anything neither should have been given a yellow. I want to see a bit more tension and contact in the sport. But that is my view and the rules state you can't throw punches...so Ashton shouldn't have got a yellow.
For the record, it was three punches, and they all connected (see link below).
Also, Ashton's shove on Tuilagi was in response to Tuilagi's swinging arm tackle off the ball on Ashton. For some reason they seem to have left this out of the official highlights (they start with the shove) and only seem to be mentioning the one punch in the media. It's almost as if they were trying to justify a reduced ban for a player who is elligible for England in the run up to the World Cup... :scratch
