View Full Version : FA CUP FINAL
So who's going to win?
I fancy Stoke tbh.
Man City will win plenty in the future i feel so would be nice for the Potters to grab something.
I hope stoke pull it off, it would be nice to see the underdog win.

The cup final is today?
The cup final is today? As a Scotsman with little interest in football down south, this isn't normal is it? I always thought the Cup Final was the last game of a domestic campaign. Is there a specific reason why it's not this year? Or have I got it wrong?
I'll probably watch it, because my team isn't playing till tomorrow, and would like to see Stoke win it, but I imagine most neutrals feel the same.
I presume this is something to do with football. That game for girls that you play with a round ball.

The cup final is today?
Unfortunately. Long gone are the days where fans across the country would sit down to watch the FA Cup Final :(
I can see viewing figures being shockingly low. Who the hell thought that staging the best domestic cup final in the world on the same day as other Prem games would be a good idea?
Stoke probably will win, but I'd love Man City to win. I can't stand this anti football, long ball rubbish that Stoke play.

I was going to say isn't it usually the end of May. Not only that, the biggest prize at stake today isn't even being played for at Wembley.

Silly isn't it?
Anyone watching the Blackpool game? Cracking game, 5 goals so far!
Poor final so far. Huth very very lucky boy.
I voted Man City, when's it start?

Ummm its finished.
Man City 1 - 0 Stoke
wasn't a classic, a fortunate goal really but you have to be in the right place to ride luck like that. Stoke desperately unlucky to not keep a 0-0, I think that they had a defensive outlook unfortunately, but well played ManC. At last the money has brought you some silverware :)
DT.
Won't be long for the next one!!!!! Around 35 years I guess.....
Here come the trolls la la la laaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
Lol no mate was only messing City deserved it and with their spending power will be a force next year.
Just got back from watching it, deserved win for city in a one-sided game.
City played some very good football, especially in the first half.
Have to say Balotelli looked class (it pains me to say that!!).
good win for city .......played the better football
Ummm its finished.
Man City 1 - 0 Stoke
Really, I thought that was some pre-game kick about. :D
Awful match. Man City I suppose was the better team on the day, but still not a classic by any means.
Wouldnt say it was one sided though. Stoke had chances but city edged it. Very poor final.
But was always going to be overshadowed though wasn't it!
well you weren't going get worldclass football with stoke in any match....so we got the best we could.....
now its the Champions league final love watching barca

What he said. Deserved win.

Despite Wayne's inevitable gripe of trolling, I still hate the idea of City's 'Buy to Win' strategy. Everyone did it when Chelsea first did it for the Premier League title, so why shouldn't City (who in their first 2 or so years with their new owner have far exceeded the cash Chelsea's then bosses Ranieri and Mourinho used)?
I can't wait for the new financial rules from UEFA to come in and bite big spending teams like city in the backside, especially seeing as City have produced so many decent players from their academy. Talent going to waste for the money grabbers.
And to be clear, I'm not a Utd fan. I'm a pure local Gillingham FC fan.

City will still be able to spend a lot if they manage to stay even. The Financial Fairplay rule should prevent clubs from making a loss. So if City want to keep spending they have to improve their revenue. Basically they have to build a global brand (like Real, Barca, United etc).
The new rule limits spending from what i've read of it. Up to 49% of your turnover I think. Might be wrong feel free to educate.
This means City would not be able to spend the money they have done in an attempt to buy further glory. Don't get me wrong all teams spend on big players but over the last few seasons, City have spent more than a lot of teams have during their premiership tenures. This is what the rule is trying to stop mega rich owners buying all the top players and then sticking them on the bench, especially to the detriment of UK players. For example Adam Johnson was benched yesterday, he is one of the best home grown players in the league. Its no wonder the Uk national teams are as poor as they are with this going on.
agreed urko, lets hope aj becomes extremely unhappy at sh*tty and puts in a transfer request
He would not look out of place at Utd.
The best team won, so well done to the noisy neighbours :)
Shame it wasnt end of the season as is has been before but wembley jumping through all the hoops uefa setup for hosting the champions league final main one that the pitch cannot be played on 2 weeks before.
And the same next season when the Cup Final will move to 5:15 and be played same day as league fixtures so that the players involved can have some rest before Euro 2012

The point i dislike that United fans keep making is that Man City/Chelsea with all their cash are buying trophies/leagues.
But Man United has done this for years who else could afford to spend £10,000,000 and £12,000,000 in the 1990's on players?
Manchester United is a global franchise with millions of worldwide fans who buy chocolate bars in China with Rooneys face on, or Beckham lunchboxes, Nani curling tongs or whatever, that money goes back to the club you know???
Just because you haven't spent tons lately doesn't mean you haven't spent your fare share already.

The big difference is both source of the money & the timespan it was spent in. Since 1992 both Manchester City & Chelsea have spent more than Manchester United. Manchester United were't opposed to spending tens of milions on the likes of Rooney, Berbatov, Ferdinand etc but they don't do it all at once.

Check it out for yourself, even Liverpool & Tottenham spend more...
Still, congrats to City & to Stoke, both in Europe next season. Lets just hope City don't draw Real Madrid because if Mourinho & Mancini are still there it will be 2 games to avoid.

FCS is in there somewhere :clap
Well I only got back from a trip so I'm still gonna post before it dies, we won fair and square, sadly had to share our great day with those neighbours of ours as UEFA,FA and a few others try again to devalue the competion and not show it enough respect.
Watched it in a pub in town with the Utd game on first then City but the atmosphere was great and well we sang the loudest, those reds must be getting bored wining so much! ;)
I see the thread started to derail with the usual :censored: but I'll not open that wound as we know how clouded some folks judgements are and I look forward to the parade on Monday and the summer transfer window ahead, were we will no doubt try to ruin football again and if not maybe we can just make sure y'all have to a pay premium!
