Random BSOD today on my dominator doing nothing special at all just watching 4OD actually. Hmm, im wondering if there's a way to check if the overclock failed somehow?

hey

That just happened to me as well. I have a intel i5 2500k which was running at 4.5 and it randomly gave me bsods from time to time. I lowered it down to 4.2 and its worked fine since. What error code where you getting?

unstable voltage? perhaps it's simply overclocked too much and not stable, maybe another (or two) step in voltage if there is still some headroom in core temperature and yo really want to push it a bit.

Run Linx or Prime to test the stability.

Should also run Memtest to check the ram.

here's a link to windows memory test

It's a really random thing and it's happened again today. I ran prime and memtest and nothing shows up. It can't be GPU because it just happens randomly whether web browsing or gaming.

Im worried about sending it in, because to be honest its very likely it just won't happen for 2 weeks and they'll send it back! specs are i5 2500k and a GTX570

What does BSOD say?

Do you have the memory dumps?

johnxtreeme

the error code is 0x00000124
I have the file, but how can i upload it?
I just searched the forums and apparently others are having this problem as well.

Upload the dump as a .dmp file

refresh the page, it's up as a .dmp now :) Thanks so much for helping by the way

That error code is insufficient vcore. Either up the vcore slightly or drop the multiplier by 1 or 2.

sorry, I have absolutely no idea how to do any of that! Is there a guide or something?

Do you have any more .dmp files or just the one?

Do you have a monitoring program that you can check the voltages and temps?

vcore can be modified by bios.

The page should now have a second .dmp on it.

As gbh said, go into bios and try dropping the mutliplier.

dropped it to x45, will wait and see what happens :)

A 124 is almost always not enough vcore. Test it with LinX and see if it blue screens again.

http://www.markljlewis.com/LinX.zip

Unzip, right click on the LinX.exe, run as admin, yes to the popup box, click the all memory button to the right of the Memory drop down and then start.

yeah vcore needs a bump upwards

Wow.. Dejaview
I just dropped my multiplier down a notch and haven't had a single problem since :thumb:

What's the difference between giving more volts and dropping the multiplier a tad?
Suppose each has its pro's and cons'

1.35V on a 4.7GHz overclocked CPU? Go into bios and bump it up to 1.4 - 1.475 and see how you go. If you still get the error reduce the overclock by dialling back your multiplier a couple of notches at a time.

This is a 2500K, you shouldn't need 1.4 - 1.475 for a 4.7GHz overclock.

Yes it may need a bit higher, but not that much unless it is a truely rubbish clocker.

1.475v on an 2500k

Keep it below 1.4v definitely.

My setup didn't like 4.6ghz at 1.36v, so 4.7ghz at 1.35 is a bit low. Either drop the multiplier to 45 or up the vcore to something like 1.38v.

Mine would do 100 passes in Linx / IBT but tended to crash that same way after a few hours of AC Brotherhood. I ended up lowering the overclock to 4.5Ghz keeping the same vcore and it's been fine since.

Good point, I'm used to clocking AMDs so that probably is a bit high :p

As everyone has said, Use prime95, intel burn test, and memtest to check that your system is stable, if any of the three programs show errors, change your OC settings a bit :)
