Does anybody know how these actually compare to a 1gb 4870 with new drivers etc?

Iirc when the 5830 1st came out, they were around the same speed as a 4890 which is just an OC'd 4870

Y? If the card I'm gonna upgrade to is only a tad faster (in this case) I'd rather wait for a better deal towards the end of the year (~£120 6950 :D!!)

I'm just waiting for an extra good deal to pull the trigger on :D

Swear this card cant really be compared with your one as your 4870 doesn't have DX11?

I only play bc2, and I don't think the DX11 in that game makes Much difference?

Rawz, u getting any 5850's or gtx 470's in? Theyr great prices and must sell like mad elsewhere. U may b able to tempt me with one of those :D

If it is fine as it is, you may as well wait till the next load of cards. That way you will see a much higher boost.

I would have thought they were VTX3D cards.

Check the box :P

Like Mr Moose said, VTX3D, they're like Powercolor, a bit of a budget brand but it doesn't make them bad.

I'm sorely tempted by this but I know nothing about ATI/AMD cards.

Is this comparable to a Nvidia card? If so, which one please?

Very roughly a little worse than a 560ti. If someone else could confirm incase ive completely mis-compared.

Probably very slightly worse that a 460 but not by too far. Not sure what the 5830s are like for overclocking but at this price it's a decent card.

Nope, on par with a GTX460.

HD5850 is your best bet really, only 3fps off a HD6870 on BFBC2 @ 1920 resolutions and much cheaper.

HD5830 is a good deal below a 5850 as well as using more power.

Didn't have the budget for a 5850 I'm afraid, but I've ordered the 5830. Last 2 when I ordered so had to make a quick decision.

Thanks you two. xxxx

its a good choice, especially at this price :thumb:

as for comparison, last time i checked it was equally as fast as a GTX 460 768Mb which is only slightly slower than a GTX 460 1Gb.
its at least £30 cheaper than both those cards, so its an immense deal :D!
