View Full Version : Worth it installing XP (64bit)?

Basically, I've got this system:

Microsoft Windows XP (32bit)
ASUS M2N-XE Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5600+
2.81GHz, 3.00GB of RAM (Actually 4GB but XP 32bit only recognizes up to 3GB)

I was wondering if it would be worth it changing to XP (64bit), I've heard it's not as compatible with some software, but I'd be interested because it does recognize my entire RAM and maybe it's more optimized with a 64bit Processor?

I don't want to change to vista, incase anyone was going to mention that :-)

apart from costs, why do you not want to look at Vista?

Costs most likely actually...

Would it make a big improvement, changing to vista?

There are those that say it does there are those that say it doesn't.

but it is alot more compatible with hardware and software than XP64.

The OEM of the Home Premium version cheaper than XP64 OEM.

No, OEM version can not be changed over to 64 bit for free.

The upgrade and retail versions come with both, so you can choose.
