So i have had my new PC from aria.co.uk for the last 2 weeks and everything works perfectly apart from the graphics card error i have been getting. At completly random times my games will go really weird and then i get the blue screen of death telling me i have the "NV4_disp error" and that my driver has got stuck in an infinate loop. I have updated all drivers, chipset and bios like it recommends and still i have this trouble. The temperature of my computer is fine and nothing is over heating so i am at a complete brick wall as i have no idea what it could be. The graphics card i have is "Asus Extreme 8800GT 512MB PCI". Is there any fix since i have googled the problem and nothing has helped or will i need to return it to aria? Below are a few images i managed to get of the problem before the blue screen of death comes along.

Many thanks, David Gardener

Hello and welcome to the forums

Have you tried the lastest driver? If so have you tried an older one?

If you cant get it going thru Wonderlusts idea, then go to www.aria.co.uk/contact.asp (http://www.aria.co.uk/contact.asp) then they should be able to help you through the tech lines or create an rma to send it back to us :)

Yes, i have tried old and new drivers and even beta drivers none of which have any effect.

what clocks are set on the card?

Factory shipped clock frequencies (no overclocking)
Core Bus: 600Mhz
Memory Bus: 900Mhz

Ok, Are you overclocking the motherboard at all? Have you confirmed that the PCI-E bus is set to 100Mhz?

5523.323MHz core frequency???

Looks that way, i havn't changed anything since i received it. Is that incorrect then?

-EDIT- Just checked it again and it looks like that number fluctuates since its now 6189.128.

Can't be 5.5GHZ it would have fried, nTune must be misreading things.

Can you load up CPU-Z and screenie what that says.

definately something wrong there, what does it say in BIOS?

CPU-Z download (http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpuz_146.zip) and run it, post what it says on the main tab and the memory tab.

All looks ok to me, I think the card needs replacing.

Yes i let my friend have a look at my computer and he said the same thing. I just wanted a second opinion before i send it back. Thanks for the help though i really do appreciate it and it's really impressive :).

I do have one concern however. If they were to put in a new card, how will they test that the same error won't happen? Since it is at complete random times when playing games. It could be as soon as i load call of duty 4 up or it could be 1 hour into playing? Is there anyway they can effectively check this? Thanks.

To be 100% you could try the card in another computer, to rule out software conflicts or dodgy PSU or something.

I dunno if this voids any warranty you might have with Aria though. Jon?

have you tried running HWmonitor (it's on the CPU-Z website) it records temps in the background, it could be the card is overheating.

Nah i have checked the temperature and it's fine. I don't want to take the card out and put it back or anything incase it voids the warrenty. I would much rather send it back and let someone who knows what they are doing do it.

not 100% sure on that but I'd err on the side of caution

That's fine i'll play it safe :P. How long would i be looking at when i send it back to you to receive it again, just out of interest?

Yea that's understandable. Well i have a lot going on for the next 2 weeks so i will most likely send it back in a fortnight since it's not a life changing error and i can still access my emails and the internet. Would just like to say thanks for all the feedback and help it's very impressive so i shall recommend you to my friends when they decide on upgrading, It's just a shame this freak accident has happend to me :). Thanks once again. David Gardener

did you install the chipset drivers for the mobo?

which mobo is it?

looking at the ingames, img1 looks like a dying gpu core and the last 2 look like vram but the chances of both being dodgey and it getting thru qa are slim. the ntune ss is missing too much info tho and thats what makes me think its mobo drivers.

i hope its not a nvidia 7x0 as they have dropped them from their line up with no offical reason/response.

you say that like you would rather be working than on here with us :p

He said he has installed chipset drivers. Maybe the card isnt getting enough juice from the PSU for all these things to be messing up?

See it's not neccesarily the card, it might be the PSU, or some dodgy software, which is why I suggested swapping the card to another PC.
It's an Aria built PC though and he will probably void warranty by taking the GPU out. Safest bet is to take it back.

psu is another good idea, i just cant understand why all the info is missing from ntune if the drivers were installed right. i know ive done it before when i thought somthing had installed but i had messed it up somehow.

personally i would do another fresh install just to rule out me missing somthing or maybe doing it in an order it didnt like.

Might try rolling back windows using recovery?
