"compatible with upto 4GB ram"

Means just that, you can use a max of 4GB of ram, the motherboard wont support any more wether its as 1x4gb stick or 4x1gb sticks.

32bit OSs' only read aprox 3.5gb (including the video memory), so to make proper use of the full 4gb yes you would have to upgrade to a 64bit OS

You might need to go into bios and set the RAM voltages and timings manually.

Also, whats your Power Supply?

ok, I had a similar problem with my MSI board, they are very funny about makes of ram. I wouldnt (and still wont actually) install windows with more than one stick in place, god knows why but when its installed and set up I can put the other sticks in.

When I first had this problem I was using 4x1gb OCZ 800, took out 3 of them and it loaded fine. I actually updated the bios and everything seemed ok. I recently went to 2x2gb OCZ 1000, and had to reinstall windows (for other reasons) and again I had to remove one stick.

As i am typing this I am thinking its not really helping you, but maybe check you have the latest Bios? and as already suggested check how the voltages and timings are set and maybe do them manually.

I would suggest a better PSU will help your situation the Sumvision psus leave a lot to be desired.
