View Full Version : Ubuntu to Windows 7...?
So I just finished my first build. And I downloaded Ubuntu 10.10. Not knowing that each os has it's own compatible software such as games and etc. Anyway I was wondering if anyone could give me a step by step guide on how to download windows 7 and delete Ubuntu. Please keep in mind I am Ubuntu illiterate. I didn't know I needed to know how to use the terminal and stuff.
Thank you in advance

Unlike Ubuntu, Windows isn't free.
Ubuntu is a great OS if you know how to work it - it's not really noob friendly though.
Aria sell Windows 7 x64 OEM for ~£70.

Ah.
You simply need to run the installer.
When it asks for a partition, format the current one and then install.

Not if you want to remove Ubuntu completely.

For installation.
Optical then HDD.
I usually switch it back afterwards.
Terminal doesn’t let you c&p... if you try it just says "^V"
It's SHIFT + CTRL + V (or something like that). It's accessible from the title bar.
Yeah, ctrl - shift - v works - thanks for sharing (this here is a ubuntu newbie!)
It's not the fact that it's difficult. It's just inconvenient. And doesn't run all programs that I need/want. ^^

You can "right click --> Paste" in the Ubuntu terminal as well.

More often than not, there is usually an Linux alternative that does exactly the same job and sometimes even does it better. ;)
I gave up on windows after encountering vista but have switched back now mainly to use adobe. Ubuntu is a great os, always good to keep a live cd around just in case you brick your windows machine.
As for linux, Ubuntu is the best supported out there, I switched my parents onto it and they barely noticed the difference, just showed them where the web browser was.

^ I got my windows 7 up and running months ago. Aha.
Sorry I might have forgotten to announce that. -lazy+excited that it was working finally- :p
Both, I use Windows 7 on my main Desktop simply because 1) Steam 2) Dev Tools..
However, on my Laptop I use Ubuntu because It's quicker and my Laptop isn't exactly new and powerful. Besides I don't use my Laptop for much so Ubuntu is enough.
Ubuntu is a very clean and efficient OS though, these big names need to watch and learn.
