just switched on right now should be a good game! come on Madriddddddd :weeee
should be a cracking game
Why do Barca use Mascherano as centreback when they have got 2 good subs that can play there
Hope its a good game anyway. Joes's tactic are a bit boring but he knows that is the only was they will contain Barca. Think Real will edge it over the 2 legs, especially if they win tonight they will just keep everyone behind the ball in the 2nd leg.

Must be some doubts of Puyols fitness or head, bit of a strange one Mascherano hardly the tallest CB's around, we'll(City) sell them Lescott if they need a new one, we'll just take Messi in part ex!

No Messi is coming to us part exchange for Ameobi :D
They have Milito on the bench strange that they dont use him at the back
I hope Barca win tonight or it finishes 1-1 just so Real have to go for it in the 2nd leg instead of just defending
Barca reserve keeper sent off at half time :D
bs sending off tbf
games a joke this ain't football..
Both teams just embarrassing tbh
El Crappio.
So much talent rolling round on the floor, disgusting really.
Barca should be ashamed of themselves. Never a red card. Puyol got away with similar shortly after. Jose was right the decisions always favour Barca.
That'll be a Barca V Man U final, good luck United..lol
Tbh, this has been more like an episode of Eastenders than a football match.
If Barca play act as much in the final as they have tonight no team will beat them. Is this why they are so good in spain?? Trick the officials into cards to the other teams?
Both teams as bad as each other mate. Pepe did about 200000000 rolls just before that to get Mascherano booked. Shame really as it could be a great game without all the pathetic antics going on. Barca win is the best result though so we wont be bored by Real with 11 men behind the ball in the second leg.
Thats just foreign footy mate :(
Oh someone else died, oh wait.

Getting the excuses ready???
Only joking, tbh i will be cheering Man U on against Shalke and then if they go through against whomever as they are the only british team left in.
Chelsea for the league though!
In four El Classico games Real have had a man sent off in each one? That does say something about favouritism?
Lol Wayneo no excuses m8 is plain to see tonight lol
That is a goal to savour
Messi
If only there was more of that and none of the nonsense
Amazing.
52 goals so far this season.
Its scary how good he can be on times.

The way Mourinho sets his teams out its no surprise they finish with 10 men. He is a great manager but Real have been kicking and hacking at Barca all the time. Pepe is a clown as well not just tonight but in most games he is dirty.
Let's no go there with play acting/diving or shall I reel off the youtube vids? this is what happens when the two biggest teams in the league meet each other several times in quick succession culiminating in tonights game, the most important of them all.
It's going to need a miracle to beat this team.
With a decent strong ref who wont stand this holding phoney cards up Barca are beatable. Utd to avenge the final two years ago.

Agree with you on this. Barca are nowhere near this bad when they play other teams usually. Alves is a bit of a moaner and diver but that is about it. Hopefully they will beat Utd fair with no dodgy decisions from the ref and nobody can have any complaints.
even if they lost fair and square though man u fans always whinge.

Yeah because ManU players never dive and never hassle the ref into giving cards.. LOL :)

Exactly. Dont see what they have to whinge about really. Apart from the Chelsea game where Luiz should have been sent off, they have had the majority of decisions going their way this season.
Bit of a Messi game if you ask me.
Badum tish!
Going to be a good final I think.
And Liverpool when Caraggher should have gone lol. But I understand Neville and Rooney got lucky this year.

Yeah forgot about that one, he should have gone. Was funny to see Nani crying though :D
Imagine if this had happened to him

A team like Real with the players they have, it is rather ugly to see the "special one" set his team out like that, guess he think's if he tries to play them fair and square they have no chance, playing ugly worked the other week in the Copa Del Ray but not tonight.
And Urko you can't really complain about things like this your players have done it plenty and so does lots of other teams and players in this league and others it's just part of the game now and untill they start to punish players/managers and teams properly and say it's just not welcome in the game then it's gonna carry on.
I think what tonight proves is that you can't even play ugly against Barca and get much success, think it's time to start thinking plan c, I'd suggest something involving spiking Messi's breakfast on the morning of the game!
We will contain Messi. Utd to win Champions League and Prem double.

I like your optimisim but the man is uncontainable, just tell Scholes to "tackle" him and you might have a chance getting rid of that problem, thankfully they ain't a one man team, all you can hope for is that your players play the best game of their lives and Barca have an off day, a really, really off one.
Have to be optimistic if I was expecting them to lose be no point being a supporter!!! I fancy our chances against Barca or Real.

Hey im always expecting my team to lose :D

Barcelona aren't that good, people talk about them as if their invincible
Messi is the best player in the world, granted that,
but hes not bigger than Manchester United, and im sure it wont take Barca to be at their worst for United to Win.....
Rooney is an amazing goalscorer aswell ;)
What a game that was  apart from messi ruining all the handbags, rolling about, yellow cards, silly red cards.
After it all calms down i wonder how many players are a yellow away from missing the final? Would imagine more of the same next week in the return leg lots of bookings/diving/handbags
IF man utd get the right result against Schalke and get to the final can they stop Messi, i am not sure they can :( sit back and defend he runs at you, push up the pitch his speed takes him away, how about man marker and make it 10 - 10 cant remember it being tried before someone must have done it????
hate real madrid, but i want(ed) them to get to the final, as i think it would be a more interesting final to watch instead of barcelona just keeping 70%+ possession and united hoping to score on the odd occasion they get to counter attack.
Arbeloa did a decent job of dulling Messi as LB for the Pool in 2007 ;)
I miss those days :(
.

This may be the only way but really who's good enough?, I mean apart from roughing him up a little while trying not to get booked don't think there's anyone on the Utd team or the world for that matter who can do the job to any satisfactory level for 90 minutes.
If Barca are up for it, they can't be beaten it's as simple as that.
Barca are beatable. Shut down Messi, which English clubs always do, Barca have nothing. The only time Messi has done anything against English clubs was in the Final against Utd when he scored one goal thats it total. He is the best in the world no questions but he can be stopped. Same as Ronaldo at the Utd was the best in the world teams learned to shut him down.... sometimes!!!
Barca have nothing else? Xavi, Iniesta, Pedro, Villa, Alves? Four of them World Cup winners and the other the best right back in the world.

Didn't he score 3 or 4 goals against Arsenal as year or two ago?
emmitt all four guys you named are good but are well known for diving. They go down easier than Ronaldo did when he first arrived at OT.
Goes down easily? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOKE6n4X_qQ)
Lol nice find. collectors item?
Not really hard to find, I can go and list several more for Wooney and others if you like?

Run, fall over, clutch body part, peep at ref, get up, wave imaginary card then repeat until end of match.
what has going down easy/diving got to do with being good or having anything other than messi? :P love or hate barcelona and their style of play but most of their players individually and technically are immense.
all the conspiracy theories coming out from jose and co today, can see a few bans/fines being brandished about haha

Considering this thread is titled "El Classico", I was commenting about what I saw last night.
sorry sb89 that wasnt aimed at you, was aimed at urko :P

No worries. :)
i agree the diving and play acting last night was hillarious, something really needs to be done about it
I like Mourinho but his comments about Barca are getting boring now. He sets his team out to kick them off the ball and wonders why he has players sent off?
true GJF47, i still dont think pepe's tackle was a red card though, they should have had that ref from the united shalke game, he let everything go, there was hardly any stoppages
Yeh that was a stupid Red Card! The game was bad excluding Messi's 2nd Goal
It was a harsh card. It was similar to Scholes tackle but his foot was a lot lower. Pepe is a clown though and deserves a few more reds than what he has been shown. They spend all that money on the talent at Madrid yet they have to resort to tactics like last night but it backfired on Mourinho. Be interesting to see what he does in the 2nd leg as they have got to go for the win now.
Guys just a bit of a drama queen, got his tactics and team selection wrong, doesn't work so he tries to deflect it with this favouritism BS, I mean am I wrong but I thought Madrid were the more favoured team in Spain, by the football authorities, Govt, Monarchy etc etc??
It was more likely Dancing on Ice than a Champions League Semi-Final fs.
If they spent more energy pinging the ball about the way they normally do then it would have been a sight to behold, instead we were left with a few bits of brilliance in amongst a shower of the brown smelly stuff.
Anybody see the video clip Real put on their site with the diving the angle they show looks like Pepe didnt even make contact with Alves :chairfall:
Since then Uefa have thrown out both sets of complaints, lets hope a game of football breaks out tonight!
What are the odds on Real to win 3 - 0
I wouldn't bet on it myself tbh.
Barring them going to nine players after 2 get sent off for diving i think its theirs already really.
Can't see Schalke scoring 2 either or 3 to win tbh.
Abidal's back, although most likely appearing from the bench. There's no way Real can score 3 without reply.
He was the best defender in the world, on form, before his operation. That is no exaggeration.
Well I assume it's like over here and unless the ref says so at the time no retroactive action can be taken, bit cheeky Real saying this though got a few lightweights themselves!
Just need the football authorties to make a stance and say, right from next season all dodgy :censored: will be reviewed and players and teams punished, obviously some will be impossible to say one way or an other but the blatant ones at least can be punished and it may eventully drive it out of the game.
And while they're at it just bring in technology full stop have a ref left on the pitch but some on the side watching the action on several monitiors then relay any action needed to be taken to the ref on the pitch, shouldn't slow it down that much compared to the delays caused by decisions/players protesting than it already does.
Lets just hope Barca get to the final without getting players suspended
Would like to see players who jump up after being tackled waving imaginary cards trying to get players booked should be booked themselves, am sure it was going to happen at some point
I am hoping they have a proper match tonight 2 - 2 is my score prediction :D
lets face it real wont be able to rectify this deficit especially at the nou camp, so lets just hope they go out and actually give the barca players a reason to roll around on the floor, break a few legs and reduce their chances of winning the final :P

Yeah this is bang out of order and always got my goat, would be nice to see.
Would also like to see a good entertaining game of football, hopefully Jose will say to himself ahh well the negative, stifling tactics didn't work mays well go all out!
Don't think he's winning many friends over there and I'd be suprised if they give him another season, and for the last couple of years I was very much up for the idea of him managing my team but the last few weeks my opinion of the man and his methods have gone way down and quite happy for him to go to our neighbours now because if he fubard there they really would be hitting the panic button...LOL!
have read a few articles in the press having a go at Mourinho and his tactics/style play he burning lots of bridges in Spain and i would expect him back in England maybe even this summer!
Never been a fan of the style of play his teams set out with but it wins trophies, we shall see where he goes!
I think when he does come back to England its a choice between Utd/City and maybe even back to Chelsea
MBLU3 you not queueing up for cup final tickets today??

Scared of playing them in the final are we :D

Hehe I wish, not a season card holder and doubt there will be any on general sale, I know some of our opposition fans think we struggle to fill Eastlands but I think we'll have no problem selling out allocation for this game and I'm no in the position to be spending several hundred pounds on getting there dodgily! :p
My uncle who comes from Scotland and is a bigger blue than me(anyone who has watched this pile :censored: for 30+years can rightfully claim to be a fan, no matter where there from before anyone starts!:p) is coming down and we're off to watch the game on the big screen at the City Square, the place is gonna be jammed, so hopefully should be a cracker, then off into town to paint it re..blue!...As long as Stoke don't spoil the party!
The blue season ticket holder has had the day off and was planning to get to city at 6am to queue up :)
No one struggles to sell out Cup Final tickets ;) i did notice the first to complain about the allocation was the Stoke chairman even though they have about 16000 season ticket holders

Oh nice one, so very jelly, never been to Wembley (missed play off final due to illness!:cry)or London for that matter(why would I?) but would love to so very much as it should be a belter of an occasion, hopefully though this is just the start of many and it will be soon our home away from home!
I am contemplating getting a season ticket for next season though couldn't really justify the outlay for a one day affair but a whole season I might just be tempted, if there's any going of course!...was for a few seasons late 90's and first season at Eastlands but we were so awful and I was suffering from depression at that time and think we failed to win in something like 16 out of 18 home games and thought it would be better for my health if I stopped awhile :p..now feel like jumping on the glory train! @catrain
And the whole Wembley ticket allocation is a joke but nvm what can yer do?:knock:
Well that game wasn't that great either but at least Real gave it bit more of a go and the Barca players didn't really do themselves any favours with the theatrics again tonight. Mascherano especially, awful, awful play acting.
Sort makes me want to see Man U wi...nah maybe not but still it takes a fair bit away from the tag of them being the best team in the world though.
Wait till De jong get and Balo gets a hold of them next year, they won't know what hit em!
Mascherano is a ****. Hated him when he was at Liverpool and he is just as bad now. Barca were nowhere near as bad tonight as they were in the first leg though. Hopefully with Abidal back we wont see Masc in the final anyway.
Thought Madrid were very lucky to finish with 11 men though. Carvalho did at least 4 yellow card tackles and Diarra quite a few. Sure Adebayor came on just to kick people as well :D
Yeah think the ref was told to keep is hands out of his pockets and Adebayor was a joke and lucky not to be sent of in this or the last game, please god someone buy him!
He will probably end up in Italy or something. Cant see anyone from the Premiership wanting him.
