shocker.

UTD were class, Rooney, Giggs, Valencia, Carrick and Hernandez all excellent. Shalke were poor though but you can only beat what was in front of you. If it hadn't have been for that pesky keeper it could've been 5 or 6, Fergie sign him up !

Yeah, I know, but Fergie made a point on getting on the pitch to shake his hand and have a quiet word. He was also well over the top about him in his interview at the end "one of the all time great performances against UTD". The way he stood up in one on one's didn't half remind me of Schmikes. I think his fee will be pretty low due to his contract being up next year so they should offer him a big pay packet and try to turn his head.

You can't mess about with Goal keepers, look at how many were between schmeichel and VDS

Can someone change the title to Rubbish Shalke 04 ;)

Well done to ManU as has already been said you can only beat what's in front of you, i'd say you're pretty much in the final now.

A ManU Barcelona final would be a good watch.

I've just got a feeling for Madrid, Ronaldo vs Utd in the final is too good a story not to happen (then Utd win of course)

Here's hoping City put a bid in for him and get those Germans a better deal! :P

And this current mediocre United team manage to win again, Ferguson really does have the midas touch, cannot wait for the day when he retires and it all goes tits up, we'll be there to savour the downfall, tick tock!..

Not good enough in central midfield to cope if United get to the final.
Not in a million years will the players in the middle of the park have as much time to play as they did last night.

GJF47
27-04-11, 11:56
Shalke were really poor last night. They gave Utd so much time on the ball they were asking to be beaten. As ThunderFlash said, Utd will get nowhere near the time and space in the final against Barca or Real. Got a funny feeling it will be Real though, Jose knows how to contain Barca now. I dont mind who gets there though as long as they beat Utd I will be happy :D

scottmac
27-04-11, 12:02
IF Utd got Barca in the final, then clearly the midfield is nowhere near theirs. The best chance would be to stick in the grafters, Park etc. then I would play Hernandez up top as Barca play so high up the pitch he could potentially skin Puyol or Pique with a ball over the top. Utd would then have to hustle and defend for their lives and hope for a break.

It wouldn't be pretty, but in a one off tie there is every chance they could nick it. Barca or Real would be clear faves though

This^^ they(Utd) have got to make an ugly game of it, which they can because they are this season, hoping Barca do it as there the best team on the planet and have been for a couple of seasons, Los Blancos for all the money invested don't really look a great side and think Jose has can do his magic again and get them through all though I doubt it, especially over two legs.

Utd will beat Barca in the final. After the semi against Madrid all the diving cheats have been found out. After the second leg the chances are several of them will miss the game due to suspension.

Against city in the FA Cup they were given huge help by the FA when they banned Rooney but Utd just got on with it churning out league results and an awesome CL performance. Roll on May double winners.

Thats the sad part. We won't see if Utd could beat Barca with their strongest team, which I dont think they could, cause half of them will be banned. I don't think a second yellow should mean missing the final to be honest as its way too easy to pick up a yellow in todays game.

Happened to Utd two years ago against Barca. Fletcher missed caused of a silly booking which never was.

Stop with this world is against us :censored: and there a bunch of cheating so an so's when your team has done exactly the same thing on numerous occasions and gotten away with lots of things over then years and I might be able to take you somewhat seriously!

And I'm not saying my team is holier than thou but the difference is we're not as high profile as your club has been or in as important matches when said things are easily highlighted.

UrKo
30-04-11, 12:14
Not that at all m8. Being the team we are mistakes against Utd will always be highlighted more than others as Utd are the biggest team in the UK. As a football fan numerous times I have stated Utd have been lucky to escape punishment this season. Neville, Rooney to name two occasions this year. You seem to be overlooking the objective points I have previously made only to pick up on the obvious backing of my team. Not looking for an argument far from it but look at all posts made before making a ridiculous statement like the above.

As all Utd fans have done we have moved on from the City game and are looking forward to the day we lift the trophy and play in the CL final.

Krusty
30-04-11, 12:31
No you just have to say well if Rooney didn't get banned it would have been a different story, if's and but's and Rooney didn't deserve a ban? maybe tell the idiot not to swear into a TV camera where he knows or should know millions are watching, I mean the guy did it playing for England and he does it again? really?...

Or you going on about Barca players being diving cheats when theres plenty of evidence your players have done likewise or incredible hypocritical comments like the time when I think it was an Arsenal player cause a bit of an uproar after a dive and Rooney was on the TV and in the papers giving it, divings out of order and shouldn't be done!..lol what? how are you supposed to take these people seriously?

And ever heard of Fergie time? that just wasn't made up for no reason or how do you account for 1.36 seconds added onto an already given 4 minutes, no the excuse was it was give for goal celebrations, again lol what? then you see Fergie grining like a Cheshire cat with the 4th official, it does make you wonder no?

Basically as the old saying goes people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

UrKo
30-04-11, 18:03
Money won't buy you trophies!! A proper team ethic will. Blackburn bought the prem many years ago look at them now. Rich owner gets bored with lack of silverware. Same will happen to our noisy neighbours....

GJF47
30-04-11, 18:39
Thats why I would like to see Arsenal do well. I love the way they play and without spending millions like City, Chelsea and Utd they are still up there very season.

GJF47
30-04-11, 18:54
Yeah to consistently be in the top 4 while spending very little money is a good achievement I would say. While you look at the rest, City, Utd and Chelsea who have one player valued at more than what whole teams are worth its nice to see Arsenal doing what they do.

Krusty
30-04-11, 22:55
Proper team ethic?, Veron, Rio and teenage Rooney cost nothing but why bother eh, like talking to a wall.

And Wenger this marvel of a manager who's spent only £120 million in the last 6 years and won what? clueless fans are clueless...

GJF47
01-05-11, 01:45

Pop, pop, pop, can't resist having a dig can you? and can't see any hypocrisy in anything you say? I won't say what I really think of you because I'll get a ban.

But remember this all good things come to an end and when Slur Alex goes and the bubble will burst you might have to find another team too support, I'd suggest one in Wales, but there's not many teams you can glory hunt there plastic.

The above is aimed at Urko.

Why is no one mentioning net spend? Surely that's a more accurate way of looking at transfers?

Yes Wenger hasn't spent alot compared to the other top five or six teams but it's all relative though isn't it becase compared to anyone below those then yes it's considerable and City have had money for three or four seasons, these top teams have been splurging for years and created the the inflated market in the first place, just some clowns can't see this and when we take it to the next level, the dummies come out the pram, just keep filling those petrol tanks though..Ka-ching!

UrKo
01-05-11, 09:48
Wasnt meant as a dig mate but you stated that Wenger isn't that good cause he spent 120 million and hasn't won anything. Might have been stating the obvious but City have spent a lot more and are in the same boat. Likewise Chelsea spent big again this year and will finish empty handed, hopefully ....

El Wayneo
01-05-11, 09:56
Oncw Man City stop messing about and get a manager the players respect and stop changing the team all the time they will be up there competing for the league.

Takes along time for a team to gel and even the best teams havd poor seasons, look at liverpool.

7th and looking at 5th or 6th this season.

Sounded very much like a dig to me as have several of your other comments and sorry but I can't resist retorting, having grown up in the city and in the shadow of Utd one oftens feels the need to be defensive.

But as I say in my post it's all relative isn't it? prior to City getting the cash from the Sheik and some extent Shinawatra, 2007, yes 2007..4 years ago...our more expensive purchase was one Georgios Samaras for £6 million, yes £6 not 16, not 60 or 600 that's £6 million now some can argue that's crazy money anyways but well that's of course debateable.

The point is that's peanuts to the top four or five teams at that time and those teams over the last 10 or 15 years have been spending millions upon millions of cash, the only difference between teams like City and Chelsea is the speed in which we have spent with us(City) spending large amounts in a very short period of time, but that's the premium a team/s like us who are not a top 4-6 established team have to pay to A) attract the higher calibre player and B) get the selling team to sell in the first place.

Now it's a bit rich coming from a Man Utd fan saying it's out of order when it's you lot who were the main protagonists who started this obscence spending in the first place and if you can't see this well there's no point arguing.

The Sun newspaper did an article the other day saying who's spent what since 2005 and yes were second on around £450ish million and Arsenal bottom on £120ish in this group of six, but that's hardly reflective is it, how about going from 1992 and the start of the Premiership untill 2005 and let's see who's there then eh? I bet my house on it being Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal and I wonder where City will be? that right be lucky to be in the top 20 of spenders.

Now if you look at the overall spend from 1992 to the present I read somewhere awhile back we've spent something like 100-150 million more than you overall, but hey if you want to get to the top and soon got to pay the piper no?

And while your team is selling Man Utd branded pizzas and whiskey to Tom, D1ck and midget tribesman in back of beyond the rest of us are playing catch up, now got to love the whine and City are ruining football :censored: that followed after we started to splurge the cash, horrible people like Platini, rushing to bring in things like the FFP to try to curb us as the establishment start to flap, don't like it when the noisy neighbous wreck the party eh?

So now what will happen? yes that's right the "smaller" teams will struggle and probably never be able to feast at the top table as the financial restrictions will stop any tangible investments and those already established teams with the huge turnovers can carry on spending, it's frankly disgusting, but I'm not worried are owners will find ways around it and we'll soon be generating enough that I'm not in the slighest bit worried.

What I am worried for is all the other "smaller" teams, no fairy tales to be had, but sorry I like the idea of said smaller teams having the chance of an investor coming in pumping millions into a club and local community and growing a club to the heady heights, makes a nice change, but nah you keep up with your elitism :censored: and let's have the Sky4 quadopoly, compeating for the prizes every year..mega yawn..or the hope that a team outside of these 4 with impossible luck can form a team challenge their dominance, which we know wouldn't happen as any decent player is these "smaller" team is soon swallowed up by Gigantor, now it may seem a bit rich coming from me and my team as we're now in that position but if it was for fans and authorties like you and Platini, this will never happen again, yeah GG.

Rant over, so please stop with your pop at my team when your team over the years has done exactly the same thing and in many cases started it the frikking first place.

Hehe nah this as I say what happens when you live in the city and in the shadow of Utd and them lording it over the manor like they have some god given right to be where they are and when anyone else tries to upset the apple-cart they have the audacity to try and take on some moral highground when they have abosolutely no leg to stand on.

Oh and most of these fans think football started in 1992.

I agree that City will be up there but they need to get a strong manager and a settled squad first. Players like Balotelli just disrupt the squad and cant be good for them. I would like to see them do well to make the league a bit more interesting for the next few years rather than the usual 3 teams going for it.

They showed what they can do when they go for it but Mancini just seems intent on playing defensively most of the time sadly.

I am one of the ones who has faith in Mancini and prepared to give him at least another season, yes City have been way too eager to fire managers over the years and has been one of a major problems.

Balotelli I'm still not sure on, he has potential and is still pretty much a kid so has time but my doubts remain and I wouldn't read to much into what the papers say about the dressing room atmosphere I'm sure it's just fine.

Anyway let's not take this thread over to the noisy neighbours after all it is thread on how awesome Utd are...let's hope for a good, entertaining game of football this afternoon and not stupid :censored: from either side, manager or fans! :thumb:

Muh he did just win 25k though and is on 125k+ a week so it didn't go up that much for me, although I'm sure the tramp was pretty impressed and I did think about going over and hanging outside it myself for a second or two! ;)

From the story I've read he regularly donates to them so fair do's and the one he was said to of donated the 1k too sounds familiar to me, so if I see him I might ask, White tramp with dreadlocks, you don't see many of those in the city and I have seen one with that description a fair bit in town, just to deter any notion that I'm on a friendly basis with the local hobo population! :p
