View Full Version : New upgrades
Hi all, I am looking to upgrade my current PC my budget is around £400, and I don't need a Graphics card as I will be keeping the 8800GT. I thought about these,
CPU - E8400
MOBO - Abit IP35 Pro
HDD - Samsung F1 750GB SATA HDD
Case - Antec 1200
And Vistaa 64Bit
Any ideas/improvements?

Only thing I would change personally is the motherboard!

More features for less
You could, but not needed, upgrade to 1TB for £21.15 more

Nice upgrades though! :)
EDIT: if you aren't planning on using the old components for anything you could sell them and upgrade to a 4850...
Thanks for the reply, i doubt i will need that much strange, i have got a file server with 1TB and with all four computers plus two laptops and i am not filling half that.
What features does that ASUS motherboard have over the Abit?
Not bothered about a new GFX card yet as this one does everything that i want it too.

New P45 chipset, more overclocking headroom, more sata/usd ports etc, crossfire support
its a p45 chipset so it pretty much has everything, offical support upto ddr1200, 1600 fsb, pcie 2 and a host of overclocking options that arent open to misuse on older boards :)
I'd spend the extra £6 buying the Asus P5Q-E over the P5Q Pro

Better board layout and has most of the features of the more expensive Deluxe.

nice mul, thats alot of board for the price.
If money allowed and Nehalem wasn't round the corner I'd probably quite like to buy one of those P5Q-E's. My DFI's been coughing and spluttering for a while now. :|
£89 is indeed very decent for a board with this feature set. Quite like the Asus based linux idea as well (Express Gate).
