View Full Version : Just upgraded to a Sony Ericsson W300i
Well my old Nokia thing is about to kick the bucket. It crashes sometimes and the left and right on the middle direction keypad are broken.
So I rung up o2 and they confirmed that I can have an upgrade because I've had my contract for a bit over a year.
I wanted the W810i but they wanted to charge me £150 for it! However the lady mentioned that the W300i was free for upgrade. It looked ok, so thought I'd get it! Bit of a gamble, the features are good though.

Just a shame the inside of the phone isn't very pretty. I never looked at the inside before ordering it.

This is meant to be a similar phone to the W800i, but obviously this is a flip model. It has a camera, and the usual MP3 walkman stuff.
I'm planning on using this instead of buying another MP3 player, so that should do me nicely. I'm not that bothered that it have the absolute best quality sound, and 256MB is enough to hold the odd album or two.
The main reason I got it was because I needed to upgrade, and wanted the phone to be free.
My experience with o2 to date has been quite good. the lady I spoke to on the phone was extremely useful. When I told her £150 was too much she was more than happy to recommend me one of their free phones.
I manage my whole account online, I don't like the pushy people inside the phone shops :wink:
Im due for an upgrade on my phone too in a couple of weeks and have been looking around, i have a k750i atm and have been looking at the k800i. I really don't use it for music so the \"walkman\" phones don't interest me much though the camera / video does come in useful on lads nights out :twisted:
What memory did you get with yours PP?

Isle of Man don't have any o2 stores. There's only one mobile phone network, Pronto :(

not clued up on phones but i have a v3 razr and i hate it, going back to sony ericsson when this one dies one me :)

Good customer service - once had the \"top up\" not go through - about 2 mins on the phone and it was sorted :) mightily impressive hehe :lol:

Nice one i want to get one of those myself, or maybe a Nokia N73, i phoned my mobile provider up yesterday to upgrade and change my tarrif and they informed me it would cost £100+ to change to those handsets, at which point i laughed and told the guy i could sign up to O2 and get the k800 free and the n73 for £40. He went \"err ok well i could put you through to the promotions dept but there is a 10 min queue do you want to wait or phone back?\" i siad i'll try later and hung up.
An hour or so later after thinking about it some more i emailed vodafones customer services cancelling my contract, so i am expecting a phonecall tomorrow / tuesday begging me to stay and i'll try and screw them for a free k800 / N73.
Time will tell, lol.

I had the same thing. I want to upgrade to a W810i please. There's a £150 for that phone. Excuse me, if I get a new contract the phone is free! Yes, but to upgrade the cost is £150.
Purely for the sake of keeping my number I decided just to get the W300i. Although it'll probably BE another year before it turns up.

Its easy if your 12 or 18 mth contract is up, and not imposible if it isn't
