im constantly getting inconsistent streaming speeds, if it streams at all as well as problems playing online with virgin.

Those BBC speed things are supposed to reflect what each stream is for.

When I run speed tests, that is just one of the four that I use.

The results I get are all over the place at different times of the day and night.

Question is, does it deliver what you want? Or are you more interested in the numbers?

ive contacted virgin apparently my connection is constantly dropping but rapidly.

atm i struggle to stream low res videos let alone high res. with 50mb i would have expected better

go into your modem config page and post up your power levels

do you have a superhub

what videos are you trying to watch

no not got teh super hub, already found the problem after speaking to a technician for a while. ping is fine anyway.

wasnt the ping i wanted you to check it was packet loss but your sorted then.

what is the problem ?

Probably something virgin side... 10741kbs is plenty for HD video - I can get (720p) hd on ~320kbs talktalk.

How is your experience with the tech support??I have very big problems with them coming in to swap my modem...:/

virgin can be a nightmare!!! my mates 50mb kept losing connection for days, finally came in rewired him and its been a lot better but still has its moments

I have been getting 10Mb for about a week now while paying for a 50Mb connection. Phoned CS and they ran some tests with and without the ethernet cable plugged in and said there was data packets being lost.

Long story short I have a free technicians appt for thursday morning and money credited to my account for my loss of service :) Result
