View Full Version : CPU Temp - Ahhh
Ok so before this pc went in for repairs my CPU temp used to be 37 MAX even when playing games.
After the repairs my CPU temp is now 47 on IDLE!
somthing isnt right.
Gawd knows but they've all gone home now.
im a little worried about my CPU temp incase it may blow up :s
Wouldnt be too worried yet, what does it get to at load? and I think your complaint has been seen by everyone in the company :)

I believe Mr Aria will have seen it too
O ooooo
I guess that means if i ever want a Job at Aria after i finish Uni its out the question :p
lol
Supposed you'd have to wait and see
Stop using that horrible Asus software. Use Core Temp (http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/).
My guess is that whoever reseated your heatsink troweled on plenty of thermal compound. Or not enough. Or not evenly.
Cant see that happening tbh, the guys down there know what they're doing... or appear to do anyway :)

everyone has a dark side :p
Mines eating cookies :p
o/j
right off out bye bye
Just wait and see what customer services say... if you not happy ask to speak to team leader :)
17% Temp increase says different :|
EDIT: Though that asus software is rubbish. MICKY USE CORE TEMP (http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/)!
may be something to do with them being short staffed, might have rushed it...
Bios update now reading correct temps?
USE CORETEMP! AIBooster is indeed horrific in my opinion and it also reads CPU socket temps rather than the core temperatures.

But he used it before, so surely it's still an increase?
That rubbish AI software seemed to make up whatever temperature it liked when I used it. I wouldn't trust it at all.

all i can say is don't worry about a 44 start to worrying when it hits 60
as far as i know the shutdown temp is 71 so if allowed anything below 55-60 shouldn't harm your system
ok im back and have just downloaded CoreTemp and OMFG !!!!!!
Asus is showing 44 and Core Temps is Showing 51 !!!!!!!
What is going on with my CPU Temp !!!

Believe Core Temp. I think those temps are high.
Ive always found coretemp to give me the lowest temperatures of all monitors.
Coretemp measures the core, ASUS measures the socket.
Coretemp is the one you're interested in. There's definately a problem with the cooling.
Can you visually check that all fans are running? How does it sound? Full speed fans or idling?
lol i know the cpu fan in spinning as it makes so much noise !
also the fan speed has ALWAYS been on Max and still is.
When i play GRId which is just a basic car racing game the temp goes to 56 !!!
Jesus i wonder what it would go up to when i play COD4 or BF2 or even Flight Simulator.
What the hell shouild i do as i dont fancy making another 2 trips to Aria since all the staff read my complaint lol
You paid for onsite tech support didn't you? Get them to come to you!
Sometimes your best to do things your self
You paid for onsite tech support didn't you? Get them to come to you!
yes i did but they dont offer onsite repairs anymore :(
reason is they where using a third party company to do them and they where rubbish and not doing their job properly so they canceled the contract with them.
Didn't get some sort of refund for that? You did pay for onsite...
I'm going with my original diagnosis on this one and saying that the Heatsink remounting went awry.
I bet if you remount it yourself you void your support contract or something silly.

Nope not got any sort of refund for it, i did ring up last year and asked about it and thats how i know they dont do it anymore because the third party company was **** but he didnt offer me any sort of refund.
Yea im not allwed to touch it or it voids the warranty lol. They used to place stickers on the case so if you even opened the case then thats voided the warranty but they dont do that anymore.
I'd be interested to know how part of the service you paid for is no longer available to you but Aria still get to keep your cash. Small print I guess?
Its kind of like Virgin ringing me up and saying 20meg isn't available anymore so we're giving you dial up but charging the same.
Anyway, I hope you get this temp issue sorted out!
Hmmmm. Ohhhh Jon...... maybe somthing you can find out aswell :p
Alex does have a point. If you pay for on site cover, then it's removed, you should be entitled to some of it back (or extension of "take it to aria" cover for an extra year?)
If I'd taken it out I'd definately want some refund, since for me Aria manchester is a 5 hour (2x2.5) round trip :(
Fortunately I'm far more interested in playing with my own components
Fortunately I'm far more interested in playing with my own components
so would i but i dont wanna mess anything up and then void the warranty
UPDATE: Jon picked my pc up this morning and will let you guys know how it all went when i get it back and see if theres a reason why my CPU temp has gone since i was last repaired.
It has been safely delivered to the clinic :) I did inform of the other problem
UPDATE: Seems the reason i was getting high temp readings was because of a missplaced sensor.
Thank You Techies !! :)
Thanks, I'll take the credit for them lol
Missplaced sensor? I thought the CPU's had a sensor built in?
no idea but thats what they said
they do, so does the socket.
CORE TEMP reads the CPU's built in sensor temp. That was at 55c without load.
i guess we will just have to see what happens when i get it back from Jon
I bet they just reseated the heatsink ;)
took it out of the box :)
right well im on my pc as Jon has dropped it off for me.
Erm..... not a good start so far, Windows loaded and i changed the resolution as the one it was one was mad, the guy fixing the must be blind or somthing. Then i right clicked on the start menu because for some reason quick launch was enabled and it was before so i disabled that and got a nice blue screen of death. Had a look at the problem and its to do with the Nvidea Drivers so restarted and the resolution was back to normal and quick launch was enabled again so im thinking wtf. Must be somthing to do with the blue screen.
So downloading latest drivers from Nvidea and see what happens.
UPDATE: ok just had 2 races on GRID and CPU temp showing as 52 using Everest.
So what ever they did didnt work

This is why you build yourself
Well i didnt want to risk breaking anything as when i bought this it cost me over £1,300 !
Temps whilst running prime?
yea torture the fecker :D
whats prime?
Temps are showing 47 just browsing the internet
PeterStoba

You sure you used to have different temps?
Is it the same mobo?
Prime is a stress tool, used for seeing if an overclock is stable; http://www.mersenne.org/freesoft.htm

Have they disabled EIST?
could explain the idle temp differences!
EISt is again what and how do i check, bios?
wonderlust

EIST slows the chip down saving energy and lowering temperatures...
check it in the bios.
I've missed a coupla pages of this thread so this mightve already been asked, but are you using the same program to measure temps as you were before you sent it in to be fixed and the problems started?
Hey,
ok im having really annoying problems. Pc is running slow and somtimes my pc keeps freezing from changing window like from Firefox to Paint or somthing. Also when im in a game like GRID again somtimes its as if im driving in slow motion some times.
I just checked the temps and they seem to have gone up in temp which does not look good. While searching on the internet and listening to the radio via the web both my CPU Core Temps are 53. Im using Everest for the temps as thats what Aria use. But 53 is not good just for browsing the internet.
Im going to load GRID and play this for 30mins and then see what my temps are. I really getting annoyed with this pc now and its been to the Aria Tech guys twice now because of the temps im getting and i really dont know what to do as its really annoying me as this never used to be like this and has only happened since the Aria tech guys had my pc. :(
Im really confussed on what to do. What should i do?
holy **** !
Just come off GRID and my temps are 59 !!!!!!!!!
I really do need help as this is soooo pi**ing me off
No wonder my pc keeps freezing.
What the hell should i do??????
Send it back in with an "And don't send it back until it's fixed"
You've paid for a warranty, you are perfectly entitled to have your machine fixed, pronto.
I'm a fan of Aria, but to not fix what should be a fairly simple problem in two attempts is unreasonable.

But thats the thing, whats the point of sending it back it when they have already had it 2 times and not managed to fix the problem.
Because if you do anything yourself you'll void the warranty and may regret it later if something expensive breaks.
Send it back with a very detailed description of the problem, and say that you won't be accepting it back until the problem is 100% solved.
If not, take it down to your local computer place (usually a little place behind McDonalds) and they'll probably sort it for under £40 plus parts.

yea but even taking it to a pc repair place will void the warranty.
Im not going to do anything myself as like you its not worth the risk of voiding the warranty.
I have done a detailed description of the problem. All they need to do is read this whole topic.
Right after a VERY long night of doing some programming i decided to have a game of GRID again, this time i took a print screen of the temps captured by Everest.

I deserve a very long sleep so ill talk to you guys when ever i wake up.
Hoping when i get back online some of you guys will be able to give me some suggestions on what i should do as this is getting stupid now. Jon can you please............ get the techs to read this topic please so they can understand whats going on as these Temp readings are sooooooo high !
Tech guys if your reading this then please PM me or let Jon know what i should do as this is really annoying me.
I wonder if I could come round and try to fix it officially... wonder if that would void the warranty... hmm... will have to ask about that.
Well as I said before he has paid for onsite!
yup but that was provided by a third party... will find out
lol if you are coming round then then ill put my pc in the Kitchen as my room is a tip.
yay i hit a new high temp today from playing GRID. :( 60!
http://img76.imageshack.us/img76/7967/newtempfd9.jpg
You running stock cooling?
One thing - you overclocked it a while back didn't you? Could have something to do with that?
Iv never overclocked
You have
Yea once for like 5mins using the Asus tool but that was ages ago and i put it back to normal like 5mins after as i wanted to see fi the Asus tool worked properly. When it was overclocked to 3.0 the temp was only 37 and that was after playing games like COD4 & BF2.
Now when my cpu has been back to normal for like the past 6months at 2.4 my temp browsing the internet is 52/53 and playing games it goes to 60 as seen in the screenshot above.
1 thing i have thought of is the tech guys changed the settings in the bios because of my memory and was just wondering if that could have anything to do with these high temps?
PS: oh and thanks Peter
just out of interest whats the temp like in your room?
Erm.... i have no idea.
But i have my windows open all the way if that helps lol

Memory settings would have no effect on temps, nothing that significant anyway!
Is it a different mobo, you said your old one was the problem last time?

Yea its the same motherboard, unless they changed it but i dont think they have as they dont sell my motherboard anymore and never said anything.
just thought it might have been cos of the hot humid weather

I dont know, but when i was playing Grid this morning around 3 after doing more coding work i have this temp monitor on the front of my case and the alarm went off on it and it shi* me up.
