The BBC reports that a 20-year-old has written off his dad's £275,000 Gumpert Apollo (http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/13078895) after taking it for a spin in Germany.

I bet his dad's not too happy about the prang :facepalm:

Yeah saw that one, amusing. Apparently the police are investigating whether he was breaking the speed limit at the time. Given the crumpled mess that was all that was left of the car, and the fact that one of the doors was found 100m away, I don't think there can be much doubt :P.

Fortunately both of the kids in the car (son + some girl he was evidently trying to impress) walked out with barely a scratch.

After the crash the driver's door ended up 100ft (30m) away
Police are investigating whether he was speeding when he lost control of the car on the 50mph road.Hmm.. Not sure there's too much investigating that needs doing

EDIT: That'll teach me to read the article and then post without refreshing

Ohhh he is in so much trouble!

Mind you. Lending a supercar to a 20yo is like handing a nailgun to a toddler.

It's a total wreck, reckon he was doing 90mph+

So true. Have to wonder if he was insured on it too - since it would probably cost about £10 billion to insure a 20 year old lad on that car anyway, I'd guess not :P.

Probably wasn't insured or allowed to drive it; just "borrowed" it to impress the girl.
I bet she wasn't too impressed after the crash, though.

They do deals for Rich kids.

Lad i went to school with passed his test in a Ferrari and then his insurance was a lot lower, about £4,000 for the first year, then £2,500.

in a zonda she would have to kick it in the front seat no backseats!!!

or kick it the gear stick with her feet on the windscreen?

That's a novel way of creating a flappy-paddle gearbox.

Too far?

Now, where was that discussion about car insurance for young drivers?

Wonder what his dad's premium was.

PS Is that one ugly heap? Even before it got bashed.
