View Full Version : does not have a valid ip configuration
New PC build for someone else, trying a wired connection but keep on getting the error.
"does not have a valid ip configuration".
I have tried Updating the drivers, restarting the router/pc but no luck.
PC Specs:
Phenom x2 555
Asus M4A78LT-M LE
4gb ram
Nvidia 450
Any Ideas?
cheers
sounds like a static ip address is set, and the ip has already been nabbed by something else. another pc, xbox, ps3 etc.

Cheers for the quick reply. Got the option set to automatically obtain IP address on the settings.
Do you have any VMs installed or any "Unknown" devices under network?
How about logging into the router and setting the PC as a static IP?
use cmd/ ipconfig /all to get the mac address
Thanks for the answers I will have to give them ago tomorrow I don't have time to do it now.
Will get back to you all.
Actually - could you do an ipconfig /all as faz said, but then post what the results are in here.. Might be able to spot something thats not right :)
yep do a ipconfig/all post that up..
what router are you using? is any other device using this router?
Now this is very odd, switched it back on today and now it works
oh well

Nah, he says that on basically every possible opportunity. It's a knee-jerk reaction you develop after supporting people in an IT capacity for any length of time ;).
