Okay, you may or may not know i have just got a new p.c and at the mo i am using a trial of windows, i really don't want to have to pay £130 [roughly] to buy windows because it's rubbish but then i have all my games which require windows [:(] Is there any other operationg system which is better [cheaper] and can play the sims 2 [yes i only have sims2 games :P i'm sad i know but go talk to my friends!] I have 26 days left...

They might sell you that, but then they might not technically it's for system builders so you might need to buy some hardware too, you need a new hard drive though, right?

I would like to remind people that this is a form of piracy and is as such deemed illegal. You dont want Microsoft blacklisting this forum would you? :P

What he said. Buy that along with a cheapo fan, or a set of screws, that all counts as hardware

Technically the windows cd's they sell aren't for the general public ie not a retail pack which i assume is what Shelly has been quoted £130 for, which comes in a nice retail box and you get an instruction book etc etc. It is basically just a cd and licence number in a cellophane (sp?) pack which is used by pc builders hence some places will only sell it to you if you buy some hareware, and some places are even stricter and you need to buy a major component that the pc wont physically work without ie cpu, mobo or sometimes hard drives will do.

OEM copies of XP are for distribution only with new computers or major components usually :)
