Simply, what connections do most power supplies have? Do some have many more hard drive connectors than others, for example?

Plus, how do you know the wattage required? For example I know the CPU I want has "95w" in the title, but does that vary with useage? What does a typical GPU or hard drive use? How much is used by the motherboard...

I just don't get PSUs :( all info would be helpful, or a link to an "ultimate guide to PSUs"

95W is thermal output?

A good brand 500W should be good enough, 600W definately!

some do have more molex or sata than others but most have about 6 or more for hard disk/dvd drives.

Considering most boards have 4 SATA ports, is enough :)

You will want a PSU with x2 PCI-E x16 and a new 8 PIN connector for the latest GFX cards,

most have 6 molex and 4 SATA, a FDD, a 20/24 pin mainsboard power, 4/8 pin additional mainsboard power connector.

The first PSU I could find in the Aria range which has the new 8pin is this

Which for the price is a rather good buy, quad rail for great stability and only 20DB loud!
