Which case shall I get?
I want one that will support large fans for quiet big airflow action, in black,

Antec 300 Gets my vote... looks the biz not as gareish as the 690 :mrgreen:

690 is superior cooling
Antec, half the price and the cooling isn't too far behind
Ive also been comparing these two cases to cool my hardware better, and looking at the two. Id go with the Antec

Isn't the CM690 a full tower? The Antec 300 is a masterpiece when you consider it's just £39 but one could argue it's a bit of a no frills case. Regardless, the 300 would quite happily cope with a top end machine inside it without requiring it's case fans to run at full pelt and it looks very decent too. I suppose it'll depend on whether you need the extra space that the Coolermaster offers.
the planess of the 300 is much better than alot of other cases out there and at its price its almost unmatched in the amount of airflow you get. it is limited to an air only setup as i think it would be hard to try and get a good look inside it.
you do get what you pay for with a case tho, have you looked at the coolermaster 590? its got most of the features the 690 has but looks different and has less plastic.
I'm swaying towards the 300,
though the 590 though is scarily similiar

the extra fans in the roof and side make coolermaster the winners for me.

the 590 looks like a good choice depending on the price. if it can be had for a similiar price to the 300 then go for that otherwise the 300 still gets my vote.
yea the 590 is up against the 300 like the 690v900.

I'm VERY impressed at the sheer number of fan mounts. X2 top mounts with the choice of 80, 120, 140 etc, a "behind the cpu" mount! below the psu vent,
the 690 is too tall so this looks perfect. The finish inside and attention to details looks far superior to the Antec (which seems really cheap and nasty interior wise)

This but I thought the PSU internal fan sucks air in and blows it out the back so it WOULDN't be beneficial to have it as per above pic?
the 590 and 690 are the same case just with different front and top covers, they have the same fan mount and stuff, iirc the 590 is slightly better as its hdd is parrelel with the case sides and it improves the flow from the bottom front fan.
if you do put 3 fans up front tho you can not have any disk drives??
o0 yea the psu fan grill is a great idea but its not in the right place for mine :( so mine is upside down in my case.

You could if you modded a slot loading one into the top

ah i thought that with the x3 120's up front, x2 would be enough anyhow :)
I am limited to 445mm height due to my desk support beam so the 690 at a taller (H)482 wouldn't fit. The 590 at (H)440 would be perfect.
I wonder why the 690 sells for £20 ish more ?

Fan mount behind CPU, vent below PSU, 2 Blow holes on top with choice of 80, 120 and 140, an extra fan mount on the side panel, better drive mounting system, cable management system - all of which antec doesn't have !
I've really sold the 590 to myself now 8) Rep added Marsey for first suggesting it :mrgreen:

I like! Is that a Nexus 120 silent on the rear? does it have speed control and how quiet is it?
Also on the upper drive mounting bays is that a row of shiny silver screws? :confused:
yes nexus 120's replaced the standard coolermaster ones that come with the case, no speed control but very quiet :) fan at the bottom is a lian-li not really doing much with temps so it might come out

If you like attention to detail and dont mind a £150 odd case... check out the cosmos s. I know i talk about it alot but its ****in amaising.
That is if your not fussed about having a big case, which in my opinion a big case is the only way, and that just my opinion, not saying you should go out and buy one

i wish i had waited on the 590 now tbh, the mounting for the hdds is much better for your airflow than it is on the 690, altho i do think the 690 is nicer to look at.

For £10.88, why are you even considering the CM? Twice the fans at the front, a fan in the middle (so you basically have a wind-tunnel blasting air at your graphics card) and a HUGE top fan. Plus it looks less like a london bus painted black. I'd compare this to the 690, rather than the 300.

Its the 590 CM i'm looking at now, have you seen how many fans it takes! more than the nine hundred I think! 8)

590 is a 690 without all the plastic and has a better drive cage.

as well as taking more fans and in places allowing numerous sizes to be used, better build quality, cable management, better HDD racks, Fan mount behind CPU, vent below PSU, all of which antecs don't have ! The side panel and top panel can hold 80mm, 92mm, 120mm or even 140mm fans for your pleasure.
Oh and Aria now sell them and i've bought mine :mrgreen:

hmm how is niose with the case
lets see u use up all fan slots and all fans at 100
does the case keep miose in?
My cosmos S has 8 fans in total, and then 2 HDD's and i can hardly hear a thing, everyone says how quiet they are so i should say the 590 is pretty quiet too
120mm 1000 spin fans on full whack are very quiet.
my old raidmax has NINE 80mm fans 2000 spin silent eagle, the smaller the fan typically the louder it is, with nine fans it was very quiet :)
