Hi,

I have a problem, for the past 2 weeks my pc locks up like once a day, Like yesterday I was on Desktop and I opened a folder and then my pc just locked up and could not do anything, also my onboard speak started making a beeping sound going beep, beep, beep, beep ……….The day before I was playing GRID and was in a race and then again my pc crashed bit then I had no beep sound from my onboard speaker but the sound from GRID was like in a loop just making 1 sound like Shhhhhhhhhhhhh…

Iv been checking the temps of the CPU etc… and everything is fine so I don’t know if its bad memory or my motherboard is going crazy.

Asus P5W DH Delux
1GB 800 OCZ X2
Gainward 8800GTX 756mb

Any help?

Micky007
03-07-08, 17:33
ok then 768mb.

Doesnt really matter.

Ok done a memory test and no probs with the memory so that leaves the motherboard. What iv done is iv just put 2 OCZ 1GB 900 in and took the 800freq memory out, if it will happens then i know it has to be the motherboard or CPU.

Iv also just added 2 12cm Fans to see if i can make my pc cooler.

maybe the auto settings are undervolting the ram?

jonwoad
03-07-08, 17:56
It would but it would also invalidate your warranty :P

I have a feeling there is somthing wrong with either my motherboard or CPU as i could tell like 30mins ago it was going to do it as i had music on this time and it kept freezing for like 1sec and carried on playing again, this happened twice but it didnt lockup this time.

Im a little confussed on how i can work this out weather its the CPU or the Motherboard, all temps are fine so i have no idea :(

What should i do?

jonwoad

Try running some stress testing stuff on your chip

denz9910
04-07-08, 14:04
sounds like a memory fault count how many beeps you get then take it from there
as a quick fix try removing memory and clean it i use wd-40 from a pen and wipe with smooth brown paper just to clean up the connections then re-install and try again ok ??
hope this helps

Lynx

I seriously dont recomend Wd-40, i remember someone literally frying a pc by spraying wd-40 all over, fans and components, it ruined everything. wd-40 and memory doesnt mix.

You can get some electronic cleaning solvent, mite be worth a look.

04-07-08, 14:42
I usually use streak-free screen wipes.

Micky007
05-07-08, 04:23

Lynx
05-07-08, 08:21
take off any overclock and see if it happens again.

Erm.... no as i dont have to. Do i?

Yeah, you really should. It's something we're always going on about, like PSU's :)

Biodoid

I remember my pc used to lock up or just crash..maybe even reboot..thought it was the ram so bought another 2 gig of it and same thing happened, thought it might have been the nb so added a fan coller to that still same problem..tried different bios's which didn't solve it and lastly replaced the psu and that fixed it..
