The Google Streetview car has been spotted in the far north of Scotland too

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/07/08/street_view_inverness/

Ive heard reports of that particular vehicle spotted in the small highland towns of Thurso and Wick, which is funny, because the coverage of up here on Google Maps is atrocious.

I dont undertsand why people are complaining about this... i think its a ****in good idea, who needs pages and pages of road maps when you can have google on a pda or something similar

It's not the maps that are the issue, its the pictures of peoples houses taken from the road, there is the possibility as jon said of people or cars  being photographed where they shouldn't be etc.

I have google maps on my moble and I agree it's usefull, especially alongside the tomtom i also run on my mobile

Im talking about the streetview too. I think its a good idea to be able to compare a map with pictures of where you are on the map.

I do think however that they should blurr faces and numberplates... which they do.

I think its a damn good idea

but is numberplates and faces enough? Cars can be identified by dents scratches etc.

there are also other ramifications, where my parents live is ex church land, now all the properties have certain covernants on them, one is you must not have a TV aerial visable from the road, now this estate is over 40 years old, and everyone has aerials visiable, there is the possibility that googles street view could cause the whole estate to have their aerial/sky dishes etc moved/removed.

ok, I take it you don't own your own property?

some houses have rules (covenents) that say what you can and cannot do.

If you break the rules you can be made to comply with them.

Oh i see, i rent at the minute and there was a dish outside anyway... dont need it though really. I will soon have 10meg cable and support for 3 screens, what im planning to do is have the two monitors with my computer and a tv downstairs with a bluetooth remote.

Do you know any specific ways i could get that to work

wonderlust

pass, sky comes ready equiped to feed other rooms with full remote functions

Anyway what i was thinking was having an extended screen across the two monitors and a seperate one for the TV.

Thats possible isnt it?

wonderlust

yes, you can run multi screen on either xp or vista, I haven't done so on Vista, but on xp you just select the option to "extend my display onto this screen" or something similar!

Thats what i thought, just with a third screen with its own desktop and user account
