Hey technical people out there!

My problem with my new PC is still the same -

I switched the PC on (tried with the Windows XP Hime edition in & not in drive) and the blue screen appears saying 'Windows Setup' at the top and 'Setup is loading files... <text>' at the bottom.

Then a 'Welcome to Setup' screen appears offering 3 options to ENTER, F3 or R. I chose ENTER to run Windows. As soon as I pressed ENTER an error message appears saying -

'Windows XP Home Edition Setup
Set up did not find any hard disk drives installed on your computer. Make sure any hard drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve a manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or Setup program.
Set up cannot continue. To quit Setup, press F3'

The system then re-boots and back to the start.

I have tried this about 5 times, read the manual and cannot see an answer.

Is there a straight forward answer to this or should I return the PC as faulty?

Thanks in advance to anyone that might be able to help

Rachel :)

It sounds like you havent got the floppy disk with your motherboards sata drivers and the new pc comes with a pre populated image of windows setup.
Obtain the sata drivers from the motherboards manufacturer and follow their instructions, you should be prompted for press F6 during the initial setup stage.

One other thing could be, there is a full install already there but is now stuck in a loop trying to reinstall, press f8 repeatedly as the pc turns on and before you see the windows setup message. it could well be that the boot menu is defaulting to windows setup instead of the actual install.
