Scott Parker has been consistently good for the hammers.

Tevez has been epic upfront for Man City.

But i'm most impressed with Nasri tbh, just seems to walk through defences, if only the rest of the Arsenal team could keep up.

Charlie Adam has been really stand-out all season :)
Bale played well in I think 2 matches... ?

The rest... are a bit meh for me.

Totally agree with this. Vidic has been solid most of the time but has looked very dodgy in a few games as well.

Personally think Nasri or Adam should get it, both have been excellent this season.

Adam hasn't done much but been a dead ball specialist really.

Most of the voting done by Christmas so who had a good first half of the season?

Bale, Tevez or Vidic for me but can't remember last time a defender won it??

He's basically carried the Blackpool team for most of the season. As a result, they're quite a few people's "second" team because of how they're playing and the results they're getting against the bigger teams.

He's carried them mainly though by scoring penaltys and free kicks, he's not that good of player if you watch him. He deserves to be up for this though.

Is this serious?????????????
I suppose most people would prefer Charlie Adam than Nani in their team. :picard:
Does naff all off the ball does Adam. Hollywood pass lover.

Bale has had a few good games, not really consistent though. Modric has been better.

Nasri has been pretty good, but really not as good as Nani.

The rest fair enough.

Charlie bloody Adam. Give me a break.

I agree but

He's carried Blackpool thought without him and Dj Campbell they would easily be rock dead bottom with no chance.

I was surprised at no one including Nani. 16 assists and 9 goals isn't too shabby.

Would defintley have him ahead of Bale.

I agree about Adam. He hasnt actually played brillianty, he just manages to hit the 1 great pass or score a great free kick but he is a decent player. Pretty much like Kevin Nolan for us. People talk about how good he has been this season but if you watch the games he has been quite poor in most of them. He just manages to pop up in the right places at the right time :D

Sounds almost identical to a certain David Beckham to me. :ninja:

ThunderFlash

Beckham worked hard off the ball to be fair to him, and I'm not his greatest fan.
Adam does naff all off the ball, I'd be brewing if I was his team mate.

AaronWHUFC
06-04-11, 19:27
Admittedly, Adam isn't the best off the ball. Cut him some stick, it's his first season in the premier league. I'll say it now that he's the best passer of the ball in the prem, bar maybe Scholesly.

Give him the summer off and a few extra training sessions to get his fitness levels up and the chasing back and off the ball skills will develop naturally.

Scott Parker's got to win it.

I'd get heat if I was that lazy off the ball, and I play nowhere near PL level!

No such thing exists.

looks at stevie g :thumb:

tevez ftw he carried man city for the first half of the year and is the main reason they are near the top.

bale only played well in the big games.

nani is lazy

nasri is selfish

vidic, just lol

parker has lead by example but being the best in a **** team isnt a good enough reason, same with adam to a degree. next year when he is at a bigger club we shall see about him.

rest are there to make up the numbers.

Who Gerrard, hasn't turned up for about two years, Lucas and Miereles have been better than him this season.

And De Jong who is a class act.

Parkers been brillant for about three years, would look good in any team personally.

Been a strange year, no-one really standing out over the season but lots of good performances for small periods. I think Hernandez should be in for Young Player of the Year

nft99

according to one of today's papers.

Bale, player of year

Wilshere, young player of year

It is on Sky sports later tonight?

Indeed Bale is a bit of a strange one, think this is decided before xmas though? as it might explain it more as he was flying around then but over then season, nah I would have given it Vidic or Tevez myself and no Kompany was a bit of a let down as he's been one of the most consistent in the league all season.

Young player can't really argue with.

I don't watch City that much, but what I've read Kompany has been a rock this season. Seems like defenders/goalkeepers don't get noticed as much as the others.

Nani would be a shoe in for this as he is easily one of the best players in the league this year but has been overlooked for this one.

GJF47
17-04-11, 21:34
Isn't the award just for the year 2010 though? Not for the 2010-11 season? Cant believe Adam was actually in there :D

Not sure I read somewhere else a few days ago that it was for the year 2010 and not the season lol. If it was for the season I agree that Nani should be there as much as I can stand him, not sure how he was at the end of last season though

So Bale won PotY and Wilshere won YPoTY.

No complaints about Wilshere but Bale...

Wot he said..

Bale good player but no where near consistent enough, for me the player in the list that has been the most consistent is probably Tevez, espesh the difference he makes to City when he plays.

From what i've seen of Wilshere, awesome, I really hope Capello builds an England team around him.

It is for the year not the season, a bit odd and it really should be changed to the season.

So Bale won PotY and Wilshere won YPoTY.

Neither would have had my vote to be honest Bale had about half a dozen good games imo and fair enough a couple were high profile games but he's not had the consistency to really be named best player in England.

Wilshere started well and probably more deserving than Bale for his award but I dont think there was any stand out player for either award which is probably why Bale won :(

PFA awards, voted for by footballers...

When is the Football Writers Footballer of the Year award announced?

scottmac
18-04-11, 10:25
It's strange nowadays as there doesn't ever seem to be a stand out player. In years gone by it was always clearly Cantona, Keane, Henry or someone who performed all the way through. Players seem to perform in patches now

nft99
18-04-11, 11:08
PFA awards most of the voting is done by end of January the football writers is at the end of the season.

Other players up for the Young Player award Joe Hart, Gareth Bale, Seamus Coleman and Manchester United pair Javier Hernandez and Nani.

UrKo
18-04-11, 11:12
Hernandez or Nani deserved the Young Players award far more than Wilshere. Especialy Hernandez who has had an unbelivable time at Utd. Cant think of anything of note Wilshere has done? Ah well win some you lose some.

Bale deffo has stepped up his game this year

Tevez has produced a brilliant season,

Wilshere is a future startlet, and i reckon in the next couple of years helle be an England mainstay, had a good season but not performed all season

Vidic in my opinion deserves Player of the year, his performances have just been world class, period.

Would have to be from these for me. Adam isn't good enough, Vidic has had better seasons and Bale isn't consistent enough
