Chelsea to win 3 - 1

ThunderFlash
06-04-11, 16:20
Belated entrance into this thread.

Could be right wayneo, can't see a United win. Their central midfielders have to perform as they are more than a match in other areas. Looks like potentially Scholes and Carrick again who faded badly in the last match.
United have to start quick before they get swamped in midfield. Need the intensity of the first half in the last match and to keep the concentration.

Chelsea just need to overpower United in midfield, simple as really. They'll be targeting the lack of power and mobility of Scholes and Carrick.

3-1 or 2-1 Chelsea.

If United don't get an away goal, I can confidently say they are out.

GJF47

Really hoping for a Chelsea win tonight, by at least 2 goals. No doubt that Shrek will go on to score though :(

ThunderFlash

most likely be a draw or Chelsea getting beat 1-0.

United hardly ever get anything at the Bridge.

Rio Ferdinand is fit to start in central defence for United and Antonio Valencia gets the nod over Nani. Didier Drogba AND Fernando Torres both start for Chelsea. More details and full line-ups to follow very shortly.

UrKo
06-04-11, 21:40
Utd win by 1 goal. First win since 2002 at the bridge. Nando the flop booked rightly for his second dive of the game. Ramires and Essien both lucky to be on the pitch after both taking out rooney off the ball missed by all five officials. Evra should have got red carded for the tackle on ramires which should have been a penalty. Good game alround. Be a cracking second leg.

Chelsea are more than capable of turning this around.

What's with Rafael not being able to finish a game uninjured or without a card?

Of course I agree. :)

What's with Rafael not being able to finish a game uninjured or without a card?

He is still young yet... a boy doing a man's job really... he is a hard worker though so gets into daft situations constantly.

UrKo
06-04-11, 22:13
He will grow with experience. He has a lot of potential to be a very very good right attacking back

ThunderFlash
07-04-11, 14:45
Yeah there's no doubting he is a talent, i'm mainly concerned with the amount of knocks he picks up.
The cards will disappear with experience.

No, he just realised he was in Stamford Bridge and took one for the team rather than give everything to Chelsea.

UrKo
07-04-11, 19:14
Lets be honest after the off the ball attack on Rooney he shouldnt have there to have the chance of a penalty. Both Ramires and Essien took Rooney off the ball which should be a yellow. Both were then cautioned later in the game so both should have been off. The ref missed those to did Utd fans complain no we didnt. Yes it was a penalty clearly Evra fouled him but as Rio said 'Swings and Roundabouts'. How many Chelsea fans will mention the off the balls??

El Wayneo
12-04-11, 13:27
No Chelsea fan really expects Torres to be any good this season tbh.

Can't just walk in to a top flight team and expect to play exactly the same way the team does.

Personally though i don't think he's been much good since his injury, seems to have lost that extra bit of pace.

UrKo
12-04-11, 13:51
It should be a good game tonight. Chelsea have to push on, which means Utd's counter attack could prove very effective. Looking forward to it.

My thoughts exactly, really looking forward to it, couldn't be setup much better. I can see a few goals actually, Utd to edge it though

UrKo
12-04-11, 14:04
Utd to edge through def. I just hope Utd don't sit back and hope for nil nil.

UrKo
12-04-11, 20:01
Good start by both teams so far. Rio needs to be subbed though. Missed the announcement about someone getting locked out of somewhere though :(

GJF47
12-04-11, 20:02
Chelsea playing better than they did in the first leg. Rooney and Hernandez look dangerous though and I fancy them to nick a goal now

UrKo
12-04-11, 20:05
Def our two strikers look really good. Are Chelsea only playing one striker. Anelka is rapid as well as Ramires

GJF47
12-04-11, 20:07
Anelka and Torres playing but Anelka is dropping so deep he is pretty much another midfielder.

UrKo
12-04-11, 20:17
Yes I did see Torres was being sarcastic with his lack of scoring. He is one of the three who should be suspended after last weeks game as the ref failed to book him for his first dive.

On the balance of the game so far am quite nervous.

Added after 2 minutes:

Never offside!!!

Added after 6 minutes:

Chelsea resorting to dirty tactics now. Ivanovic diving and Ramires diving in hmmmm not good

Chelsea have played quite well to be honest. The first one ruled out was offside. Gonna watch the Barca game now not much point watching this one anymore :|

UrKo
12-04-11, 20:40
Chelsea are losing it a bit. Terry going through Hernandez, and hes the England captain Capello is having a laugh.

Added after 3 minutes:

ave to agree Chelsea have played very well. They are showing their dirtier side, think they just getting frustrated. I was getting nervous earlier. Will be different when they take the flop off and bring on Drogba, Drogba CAN SCORE.

GJF47
12-04-11, 20:43
Dont think Terry on Hernandez was bad to be honest. He was clearly watching the ball and Hernandez backed into him. Probably killed off any fight Chelsea had in them by scoring just before half time though. Anelka needs to come off he has been awful.

UrKo
12-04-11, 20:49
Rewatched it and think your right as much as it pains me to say it.

GJF47
12-04-11, 21:23
Ah man he just really annoys me. Ok it was a stupid tackle by Ramieres and it was a yellow but there was no need to roll around screaming like he always does. Then rolling round and waving the at the ref telling him to book Terry. He is always doing it which is what gets me.

UrKo
12-04-11, 21:34
Most foreigners do though m8. Its like Drogba, big powerful guy but the slightest breeze seems to knock him down :P

Poor Poor Fernando £50 million and no goals in 11 games. Hernandez £6million ish. Shed loads of goals and almost a cult hero. People say Utd are skint, Utd have no money to attract the best players!!!! Hmmmmm Chicharito's price tag may have been small scale in the grand scheme of greedy players but he lets his football do the talking. What is Fernando showing Chelsea fans?

Slotty
13-04-11, 08:34
It's the ability of Ferguson to spot a great player that has kept us in this lofty position... sometimes they are incredibly expensive as expected. But if nobody else has noticed just how great they really are, then they will go cheap. Low price wont put Fergie off... only a lack of sheer class. :)

UrKo
13-04-11, 09:13
Totally agree m8. We had our share of flops mind always the expensive ones. Veron springs to mind lol.

nft99
13-04-11, 09:22
But we got some of the Veron money back off Chelsea :thumb:

Cant see them selling Torres for £25m

UrKo
13-04-11, 10:28
We did seems like Chelsea have a habit of buying flops from other teams for silly money.

GJF47
13-04-11, 13:48
Chelsea need to do some serious rebuilding over the summer. Everyone knows Torres is world class and should come good next season. They have no pace at all in the team. Essien doesn't look half the player he used to be and Lampard has been poor compared to what he usually is.

Hope its a good game tonight anyway with Real going through. Should be Man Utd vs Real/Barca final.

UrKo
13-04-11, 13:51
I do hope Spurs can turn it around but extremely unlikely. Be good an all english final but thats not going to happen this year. Utd - Barca seems most likely.

GJF47
13-04-11, 17:36
Why do Utd fans want Barca/Real to get injuries or suspensions? Surely it would look better for you to beat a full strength team rather than play against a weak team? At least you would know who is truly the better team then.

I didn't say anything about injuries or suspensions, but given the EPL teams have a harder(IMO) campaign anyway it would be nice to have some extra 'luck'.

To be fair to Spurs they were doing well until Gomez gifted a goal to Ronaldo. They had several good penalty shouts turned down. They had a goal disallowed, and if Crouch hadnt been so stupid it would have been different. Who knows hey who knows.

I just hope Utd don't underestimate Schalke
