Hi RawZ,

Any idea when those new SSD will be in stock?

Particularly interested in the Crucial M4 if you have any information.

Great price on the vertex's.

I'm still happy with my C300 from last week though :)

Might have gone for this otherwise.

Which is a reminder that in the past suppliers have landed themselves with piles of unsellable stock because they have announced that newer kit is on the way.

But that was usually for PCs. Still, if these don't shift, perhaps the prices will come down even further.

The 90GB vertex is a bargain for sure. £120 for 90gb and they are using the old and trusty 34nm flash. What a bargain!

Is that 90GB 3.5" or 2.5"? The product code seems to say it's 2.5", but your picture and description indicate it's the 3.5" variety.

It is 3.5 so like a normal HDD for a desktop PC.

It's my pick of the bunch :thumb:

How are you so sure? Both the pics and title indicate 3.5". The only thing that indicates 2.5" is the product code.

Tbh. as I only tend to make my boot partition 20gb thats all I'd ever need, so if you ever find some cobweb covered baby munchkin sized ones that have slid under a file cabinet in eons gone by at a cant say no price I'll have two lol :)

My Crucial SSD is great.
By moving my OS onto an SSD, it sped up my PC enough so that I could run Windows 7 well enough, and slowly upgrade it rather than in one fell swoop.

You exaggerate. More like a punched card.

(Anyone ever dropped a pile of those?)

GentleGiant

Yes, my school was too tight to buy a PC, so we had to do our programming on "Mark Sense" cards, and ship them to the local college main frame.

For those of you too old to know, a "Mark Sense" card was similar to the sheet you fill out for a lottery ticket, lots of little boxes you had to fill in with a HB pencil (had to be HB because of the optical sensor).
Eventually we kids saved up enough money to buy a PC, about £6k for a 32KB RM box with dual 5 1/4 floppies :thumb:

Old?? When this thread started Trilobites were still considered trendy new pets.

:D Have you tried any of the links? They are so old the links show as discontinued. So the prices may be good but they won't have any stock of them!

Check the more recent threads, particularly the pay day specials and you will find some much newer bargains on SSDs.

To be fair the vertex 2E 60GB is still going with pretty much the same price as listed here. Even so when I click new posts and I see Hackingtosh, Hackingtosh, Hackingtosh, Hackin....
