Took a trip down to a competitor-world earlier to take a look at netbooks, was toying with the idea of getting one for a while (main rig was malfunctioning and was tempted to just sell up for one and keep monitor etc), but I fixed the problem(s) with my rig so I've decided I'm getting one when I (hopefully) get the place for a job after the exams, so probably about July-ish.

Decided on the N150-Plus as most viable by a mile, just love the look and feel of it. Nearly all the other ones were either a) **** ugly or b) Had a nasty touchpad and/or keyboard.

1) Is there any new tech coming out any time soon that I'm best off waiting for?
2) Anyone on here had experience with it?

Cheers

The next tech stuff coming out would be the AMD Bobcat...AFAIK its made its way into some netbooks now. Its generally quicker than the Atom :thumb:

Ah, the 1GHz Fusion thing in the NB-550D. Are they likely to come down in price much anytime soon?

Personally, I'd get the Asus eee PC 1015pem from a****n - it has the n550 duel core atom, and 13.5hrs battery life.

Asus one is going to be faster and last longer, I have a standard N150, can tell you it works nicely, is a bit slow sometimes, good enough for web browsing and office work, Not sure what n150 plus is like, dunno the differences.

N150 = Single core/Dual thread atom N450
N150 Plus = Dual core/Quadruple thread atom N550

Just about the only difference from what I can tell.

Shame about the Asus thing, it's got a nice time on the battery, but my brother has it and I really don't like the feel of the mouse buttons/keyboard.

Might keep the money and wait for new tech, the £99 N270-based refurbs you see now have only just started popping up since the N550/D510's release. Hopefully the cycle will repeat ;)
