Hi guys,

Having recieved my revision B3 motherboard today from Aria, installing everything and booting up, everything is fine apart from the ethernet not installed properly. (Or something along those lines)

Are the drivers different or something?? I uninstalled from device manager, restarted Pc then tried to reinstall from the drivers disc. But failed to do so...

Any ideas?

Thanks

 facepalm :picard:

Odd that the driver disk does not work.

In Windows system device manager click on network adapters and look for a error message or error number.

The network card may even be listed as a yellow question mark in window device manager that you can click on for info.

Drivers on the disk may not work because the disk may have a virus, or when they burned the software to the disk, it damaged the file.

Best way to go is always the manufacturers site. And ur using the internet now right? Download the drivers to USB and then install them on the machine.

From the sounds of it he is using the original driver disk that came with the Motherboard not one he made himself.

Didn't say it weren't the original disk. But when it was created, it may have been corrupted or have been infected with a virus

Drivers on the disk have a virus!? Hmm. Im currently using my phone to post at the moment. I will have to borrow the misses laptop and reinstall newer drivers. Is there a proper way of uninstalling the older drivers? Or shall i just do what i did before in device manager?

Thanks guys

Normally when you run setup it will ask to remove or repair the older drivers.

I tend to remove and then run setup again to do a fresh install.

Does seem odd, it's not impossible that the original disk is corrupt I suppose, although it's certainly unusual.

Best way is definitely to get on another computer, download the new drivers from the web, burn them onto a CD or copy them onto a pen drive, and get them back onto your new system that way.

Did you do a fresh install of Windows or are you trying to use the version that was being used on the old board. ?

No fresh install, just put the newer board in and booted her up.

Everything else seems ok.

Very odd

I've not had a network driver problem like that since the old days when the network card went in a ISA slot needed jumpers changed. :D

Normally you don't even need to use drivers in the first instance nowadays.

One thought, check that the Ethernet isn't disabled in the BIOS.
