I want to get some realistic benchmarks for my computer, what tools are there that will use real sequences from games to get average FPS which I can compare to others?

I want to see how much difference a Quad-Core CPU would make to my system in real terms.

Download crysis demo, has a GPU and CPU benchmark program in it.

Cool, any others?

Aquamark is a nice alternative to 3dmark. As for game benchies, usually the benchmark tool on fraps is good to see the difference.

Yeah but I want to be able to compare my system to others with Quad Cores. So it needs to be a set benchmark in a game, but not synthetic because I can't make much of a decision based on those.

there is one for Prey, you need the game though.

world in conflict and crysis are the only gmes out atm that i know of that can use 4 cores m8, both have stresstests.....

gaming wise at this minute a quad is still overkill imo, i would bet by the end of next year it will be a rec req for new games tho.

Ah cool, good advice marsey. I think I might invest in a better cooler for my CPU and push it harder then :) Bless its cotton socks.
