Do I need the same memory

My Current system is

QuadCore Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, 2400 MHz
Asus P5N-E SLI
2048 MB (DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM)
ATI Radeon HD 2400 Series
SAMSUNG HD501LJ

I bought this around xmas

Just found out my memory is not matched

I have
DIMM1:8DP25KK5UTFTP 1 GB DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM (5-5-5-18 @ 400 MHz)
and
DIMM3: Power Quotient 1 GB DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM (5-5-5-16 @ 400 MHz)

Should the memory be matching or is it unimportant.?

you might get it to run dual channle if you have them both at the same timings.

you should buy matched pairs to ensure compatabilty tho.

Matched may be a little better, but the important thing is to use the same clock speed. If you add to/upgrade the memory, get matched, but it shouldn't cause any problems for now
