crashing

pc is fine as long as I surf or stay on desktop,but as soon as I load a game any game my comp locks up in the form of lines across the screen also the sound locks up.
Im thinking its the graphics card but havent really got a clue!!!!.
mobo is asus P5K-VM ati 1650 gpu dual core E2180 and patriot 2GB PC2-6400 C4 memory anybody got any ideas?

Well I did have a graphics card in mine for a very short while (6800 ultra)

But I didn't try any games.

Have you tried with out the graphics card, using the onboard?

I thought of that not sure how to go about it tho.Do I enable onboard graphics while the graphics card is still in?

depends what the bios is set to, there is an option for pcie/igp

ive set the bios to ignore onboard graphics so when i take the card out theres no signal on the monitor

in that case you will have to replace the card, change the setting then remove again.

Note make sure you turn the mains off while adding and removing the card!

yea Ive done a fair bit of mains turning off in the last week.
The only problem ive got witht that is,if I change the bios with the card still in, the comp then goes ahead and loads up windows will this be a problem?

ok took out the card noe running on onbard graphics games still crashing but in a different way not sure if the graphics are'nt capable or its something else on the pc

Ok, I just installed one of the newest games I have, Tombraider Legend.

To my surprise it seems to run ok, albeit at 640x480!

So no problems here!

update: phoned aria they said bring it in for a test.
I decided to install it once more and it works!!!!! don't know why don't care happy days

yea just about perfect now,( at last )apart from temp so oc is on hold until I can get some decent cooling sorted

The one problem I have with this board is the STR doesn't work.

As my main use is as a PVR this is a pita. My previous board would drop to STR then wake up and record progs the drop back to STR, new board won't even STR!

1000050 could me a memory issue, have you run memtest on it?

memory seems to be ok mobo running at 42 to 50 cpu running 42 to 65 asus probe's going bonkers

have you installed AI NAP? Every time I used it (once with the cd version once with a downloaded version) it crashes to a blue screen

Ok, I have installed an HD3650 and I am now getting problems. Mush have you tried diagnosing the mini bump files?

Ok in my case it appears that the Catalyst control Panel was causing the problem, removed driver package and reinstalled just the driver, problems all gone.
