I have just started to make up an order:-

e2160
Asus P5k-VM
2Gb Patriot kit

Why is the Delivery charge £8.45?

If i put either the chip or the board it is £7.20
The memory adds another £1 which ever order I add it in,
and the motherboard or chip adds £0.20

The memory on it's own is £7.95!

Something doen't make sense!

Memory has to be citylink, due to insurance.

Ohh, I don't get the problem

If i put either the chip or the board it is £7.20
The memory adds another £1 which ever order I add it in,
and the motherboard or chip adds £0.20

Chip = £7.20
Motherboard = £7.20
Chip & Memory = £8.20
Motherboard & Memory = £8.20
Motherboard, Chip & Memory = £8.40

So it's cheaper to buy it all = bigger package?

the problem is lack of consistancy, espically as I can get the board and chip from a rival for pennies more, but with free delivery, they don't sell the ram, I could them get the ram by RM and save about £5 inc vat,

but I don't wish to, I would just like a fair delivery charge

btw in december I ordered my neo2, q6600 and a patriot kit and paid £6.95 now even allowing for an 10% increase in citylink feese that is still £7.70ish

To make matters worse, if i exchange the asus for a neo2 the postage goes up to £8.50!

Heavier?

I will agree they are steep, and i can get free delivery at 3 competitors and low delivery at many others

I have asked the people above me for an explaination but got told it was something to do with surcharges...

Postage should be a service rather than another way of making money..

Perhaps that's why Aria don't offer a free delivery option?

jon, i take it they didn't explain the difference between my december order and now?

Fuel prices have rocketed since by ridiculous rates I would reckon that would be the cause.

Er nope, it offers Royal mail for £4.99 :D

I've only been able to use Royal mail for orders less than £35. As soon as it goes over that threshold citypack 5kilo kicks in which starts between £6.95 to £7.95.

Err mine started at £7.20 and finished at £8.50, bit the bullet and placed the order.

not sure if i am going to use the E2160 with the P5k-vm or swap the bits with my q6600/neo2 for the best overclock on the E2160.

If i can get the e2160 to 3Ghz I will be happy, 3.6Ghz i understand is possible, but rare.

One bonus I always get the £5-£10 more expensive next day service for standard price if placed before 4pm :)
