View Full Version : ALL USERS: Testing a Template - FINAL (I hope!)
Hey,
Well, what do you think of this (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/21066465/wp/theme-html/index.html). Soon to become a wordpress theme, its a template that works in IE6 (for stone age users - works better in IE7).
I want everyone (like - anyone who can load a web page...) who can to test this on as many configuations as possible, iPad / 2 (if you have one / they are out?), Android, PC, Mac, Linux, web enabled fridges... the lot! Thanks very much! :thumb:
There is no drop down for item 4 on the drop down menu!
Any general comments / suggestions are also greatly appreciated!
I'll credit the aria forums for testing in the credits for the final theme!

Looks like menu 4's dropdown isn't working (there's no tree saying 4.1, 4.2 etc., unless that's intended?) on FF4 RC2. Otherwise looks fine to me :)
Sorry, no menu 4 dd. Will put in the OP. Thanks :)

It needs a bit more style.
Gray and blue boxes are just too bland.
Yeah - totally agree! ATM this is basically a technical preview - when it becomes available there will be some nice preset styles as will as the ability to make your own styles (colours, etc). Anyone for Lime Green and Cyan ;)

Used correctly, lime and cyan can actually be rather nice.

Also, throw in a little jQuery effects?
I can help you a little with that if you'd like.
Looking good. Have used the Position Is Everything template you started from myself, and other 'holy grail' css layouts descended from it. Can't see any issues using IE6/7/8/9, Firefox 3 or any of my betas of 4, Opera, safari or Chrome.

Ahem. That's officially cheating, its blue not cyan :cop:
I will probably shove some jQ in there - but make it optional to the owner (as an option in the options section - something like "Enable jQuery jQuery looks nice, but might make your page load slower and impact your Google rank"). Are there any scripts in particular you have seen that look nice?
Visual bad, coded nicely (minus the one error) :D
Visual bad expected - error must have slipped through... grrrr... correcting
EDIT: Fixed - must have been coding in my sleep!
This document was successfully checked as XHTML 1.0 Strict!
The wireframe is very nice, easy to adapt, i especially like the simplicity of the style sheet, should make it easy enough for someone to add rounded corners, etc.
Thats why I love the OTL! Will be better when IE6 FINALLY DIES DIE DIE NOW GRRR RAGE!!!!!
Personally I'm not a fan of just throwing jquery or jquery UI into a page unless you have a specific reason to do so. Identify a need first, then use the simplest (and most widely supported) means of achieving that goal. Content is king, and everything the page does should be supporting that.
I stripped all of the jQuery from my works website :L
All it did was allow the content boxes to 'minimize', a bit pointless on an eCommerce site:lol:

Yeah jQuery is great, but just for flashy effects it's not really worth it. Using it at the moment quite heavily in a background project we have here (the long overdue system builder mechanism) but if I could do everything I need to do without it, I would.
Chears guys, will do.
EDIT: OFFTOPIC: How come I can't thank?
EDIT2: OFFTOPIC: I can - I'm just blind!

I think you only get a certain allowance of 'Thanks' per day.
10 or 15 a day, I forget, brb
Found it,
After a few threads asking about various things relating to the ThankYou mod, here are the important settings.
Post Count Needed to Give Thanks = 10
Max Thanks a User can Give Per Day = 15
Disable Giving Thanks if Post is X Days Old = 14
Those with a sharp eye and a good memory will notice that the X Days Old setting was at 7, I've increased this to a fortnight now.
