Didn't have time to do proper shots and I couldn't find my tripod, but I was still quite pleased with them.

Very nice photos there, most of mine with a compact looked like the Sun lol. No real detail in them, but those are quite impressive.

(3 threads about the moon?!)

I tried taking a couple with my phone on the way home from work and they were terrible, so I can sympathise. For shots like this it seems an SLR is essential.

Looks awesome man!
cheers :)

Didn't see it much down my way, too cloudy I think. Get any decent shots?

Ah, that's a real shame. Did you think of using the camera on your phone or is it not good enough?

Thanks. I used a basic olympus e-400 with the standard zoom lens and no tripod.

Must've missed this thread first time around, awesome shots. I'd love to get something sorted out so I could get my own snap of something like Jupiter

That's awesome, I'd love to get a shot of Saturn like that with the rings and the impact on Jupiter is fantastic. How much did a setup like that cost ?

My telescope at the time was a 127 skywatcher mak. cost £350 with tracking and goto AZ mount.

The webcam to take the pics is a particular one you can find if you get on SGL forums and watch out for one. Its a philips toucam pro, but not anyone, its a specific one with a CCD chip NOT the cmos chip. Cost about 30-60 second hand. if you get the cmos chip you will have blurry pics compared to the sharp ones the ccd one will do.

All my black and white pics are with CCD, that saturn pic was with cmos and as you can see its rather blurry.

You always have to process your captures after too. i made a tutorial on youtube fro beginners.

Seeing as we have all crashed th op's thread with moon shots here are some of mine.

Some hand held some on tripod, pretty sure i have posted them here before but hey ho when in Rome and all that. Shrunk them down as a couple are quite big (2 in particular) clicky on them for bigger version.
