Yeah I noticed this a few days ago

Your chances will be higher with the 384mb version of the card than the 768mb as very few manufacturers do 1GB 8800GT/GTS', hence you're more likely to find a 384mb GSO with 512mb physically on the PCB. As you rightfully said, it seems to be the Galaxy version only at the moment. XFX sells these for around £79. Might be tempted to take the risk after my exams and see if it can be modded and just sell it on whether it can be done successfully or not.

palit or zoltac are doing somthing like this too, they are selling 256mb 8800gt with 512mb ram on them and you can edit the bios to use it all too, cant remmeber where i read it tho.
