Good review of the cooler, as you point out though wayy too much for the performance it gives.

Silver Arrow or the Noctua NH D14 are both cheaper and better.

I've pledged £10 for the tsunami appeal can i have an OC3D polo top please?

can you have BOTH heatsinks in pushpull??!!

also it looks like that the fins could have been a bit beefier

still all i imagine that cooler doing is covering your mobo in dust.

dont think there would be much point as the rear exhaust fan is so near the back of the cooler, plus the only thing i could think of would be strapping an 80mm fan on the underside of the 'ram' cooler part with elastic bands, but then again i hardly think it would give you better cooling.

Great review as usual, personally i dont like it, for the price the performance isn't all that compared to the D14/Silver arrow. I'd take the H60 over that anyday.

tbf i this is how i see it

budget > cooler master 212+ (all it needs is a slight improvement on the mounting)

high end > best cooler on the market arguably the noctua

other> purely on aesthetic.

212plus mounting is fine.

easiest i've installed tbh, fan clips are crap though

yeh its 'fine' agree with you but it isn't perfect. it has a single centre pin that when youre installing is can rotate on the spot and mess up your thermal paste depending on what paste you are using, and same situation when you are cleaning or doing other things on the insides, spin on the spot = remove and reapply paste, i have had to do that several times in the past.

yup fan clips are a bit pants.. they work though.

trying to mount the back plate while holding the screws in place was a bit fiddly when installing mines but apart from that its not that bad.

Its a funny one tbh. I dont think the CPU cooling performance is worth the RRP, and ram cooling is utterly pointless in a modern rig anyways.

Interesting unit but theres much better options out there for less money imho that perform as well or better.

i still think they should of made the fins wider on this as it has clearence room to spare.

deffo overpriced for what it is.

can it fit a 38mm thick fan?

marsey99
16-03-11, 04:48
yep and it doesnt need clips for the 1 in the middle as its a tight squeeze but you can get it in.
