As some of you probably already know Far Cry 2 is due out in September 08.
Done some browsing and found the supposed system requirements. Here they are along with some screens.
High Requirements
CPU: E6600 Core 2 Duo
Graphics: Nvidia 8800GTS
RAM: 2GB
Hard Drive Space: 6-8GB
Optical Drive: DVD Drive
Minimum Requirements
CPU: Athlon 64 3000+/Intel 2.8ghz
Graphics: Nvidia 6600 or ATI X1600 - Shader Model 2.0
RAM: 1GB
Hard Drive Space: 6-8GB
Optical Drive: DVD Drive
Recommended Requirements
CPU: Dual-Core CPU (Athlon X2 / Pentium D / Core 2 Duo)
Graphics: Nvidia 7800GT or ATI X1800XL Pro (SM 3.0)
RAM: 2GB+
Hard Drive Space: 6-8GB
Optical Drive: DVD Drive
The requirements seem pretty modest to me, but come release that may change.

They have learnt from the fact that crysis is too demanding.
Yeah that's what I thought too, also it only needs 6-8gb of hard drive space compared to crysis's 12gb (correct me if I'm wrong). Hopefully it will run nice and smoothe because it sounds like it's gonna be good, gameplay wise.

Crysis is made by a totally different company than Farcry.
The original guys who made Farcry split up. The label got the name and the team got the engine. In my opinion Crysis is Farcry 2, and yes its still very demanding even the latest patched version.

its made by ubisoft so it will be out on anything that can play games, incuding your phone.

I've never played it. Until I can afford a new machine I probably won't, but I was planning on buying it when I do get a new one. What don't you like about it?
I'm not happy if I can't play a game how it was designed to be played. IE full settings LOL
on high (direct X 9 qaulity) it doesn't have the photo realism so I bump it up to Very high and it stutters like crazy. very bad engine. Until I can play it on very high with 60fps fluidity I won't give it a chance! still the latest setups struggle so again I put it down to very bad design.
Also the invisable cloak thingy makes it too easy
you cant slate a game for pushing the envolope, sry but i hate this arguement, its a bad game because my 4 year old dell wont play it at more than 4 fps (im sure you pc is modern coiler and its just an eg but..) do you not remmeber farcry was just the same when it came out. almost nobodys machine could run it on full then either but it wasnt dumped all over. yes crysis isnt perfect but its a damm good game and its the benchmark by which all others must measure against, much like oblivion was 12 months before.
i enjoyed playing it, tbh i was only blown away by a few things graphics wise, it was more the way the whole world is just going on about its own buisness. you could just watch the fish or guinifoul or turtles doing their own thing, watch and listen to the gaurds shot the breeze. the graphics only play a small part in why its so demanding.
i struggled to stay above 30fps all maxxed but i still thought it a very good game, just **** in mp. cant have it all ey?
If the cloak makes it too easy then just don't use the cloak. I completed it with and without. The cloak lets you do some cool stuff that was fun, like sneaking up on guys and grabbing them, using them as a human shield while you shoot the guy next to him.
Without the cloak I just found myself sitting at range picking guys off as they came in, hardly lets you admire the nice character modelling.
COD4 there is a game with a good engine

When Nvidias *real* 10 series card come out I may give it a try. I want to play it how it was meant.

I think people get out of Crysis what they put in really. If you spend a bit of time being clever then you can have some fun with it.
Like for example, deciding just to do this bit with the pistols. Why? Because if speeding up to some guy and shooting him in the face with dual laser dot silenced pistols while his mate is oblivios isn't cool, then I don't know what is!
You just have to get out of that run and gun tpe of gaming.
EDIT: Obviously I'm offtopic a bit, so uhh yeah... that Farcry 2... wheres the dual silenced laser dot pistols in that then?
i like to hunt the guinifoul in the bush, and punch turtles in the head.
farcry 2 is set in africa so i might be able to hunt some big game in that :D

LOL very crysis. Pick em up and throw them at the enemy.
I was upset when I realised the highest graphic detail I could get on my pc for Crysis was medium. I guess its better that detail is going a bit down, otherwise I feel like i just bought a pile of junk that needs updating.
edit: Hope they do keep the "Mod your gun by pressing C" thing. That made Crysis worth it lol... Oh and the fact you can punch people.. Infact i hope a lot of things are the same, just lower demanding game

im guessing you have hold of a copy for your part time reviewers job ;) does it play like farcry or can you tell its a nubisoft game?

Sure, if I remember when I get home i'll see about putting some up.
it runs much better than crysis and the flamethrower is fun if you like setting the grass and trees on fire :twisted: think I'm about 5 missions in now

Its an ok game, but I didn't get as into it as some people did, found the gameplay a bit repetitive and shallow after a while. Too much boring travelling.
Yeah, I found it a bit boring too. If you want a good shooter try left 4 dead, it's really good.
If you want a better shooter have a look at cod world at war and unreal 3 :P
Quake wars is an awsome game by the way

Been playing Enemty Territory Quake Wars on the lowest setting, and can not wait to see what this game plays like on the new setup and higher settings.
just get fallout 3 and be done with it!!!

And im really not that impressed with the game, it doesnt look amaising and its not as big as i expected, it does play like oblivion though which is cool, slight improvements on gameplay too
But i feel quite let down, being an avid elder scrolls fan

Would tend to agree i got FC2 with my gfx card, know why they gave it away now, WAY too much walking around doing jack.

FC2 feels like more of an RPG than fallout 3 with all the walking about ! LOL
I must say it doesnt look greatly interesting, just eye candy
Whereas COD has eye candy amaisng graphics and great gameplay
Can't beat a good war game at christmas :chairfall:

And why just at christmas?
Since Return to Castle wolf, Medal of honour, COD, etc i've always had these as an xmas present. So I associate some good WW2 FPS action with eating loads of turkey and mincepies and getting drunk of brandy and southern comfort - and staying up very late while its frosty and festive outside!

Try it, get COD W@W fired up, intoxicate yourself on cheap brandy, eat mince pies and wolf down the turkey, get the fire on the go I reckon you'll agree!

To complete the enjoyment when you get hungry again get the missus to make you some tea/dinner. Move onto the Stella. Commense the WW2 action when belly is again full of good food.
