View Full Version : new gfx card
i think i need a new one
my gfx overheats and reboot - well i think thats why my pc reboots :(
i have three in my eye4
7300GS (http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductInfoComm.asp?ID=21468)
X1600Pro (http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductInfoComm.asp?ID=24237)
X1300 (http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductInfoComm.asp?ID=20801)
X700 (http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductInfoComm.asp?ID=22670)
AGP or PCIe doesnt matter £50 limit, which does have to be include delivery...and as much loyalty points as poss!
might get a PCIe...cheaper
i might be able to get up to £75 quid..
and quick question, since my regular RAM support DDR1, (ddr400)...and the gfx is DDR2...would it still support it?
cheers

yea it will work perfectly mate!
i recommend going for the 7300GS because of your price limit!
7300gt i have one of these cards and it is a little belter, but PLEASE make sure you get the DDR3 version as it is by far the best of the 7300gt's and you can pick them up for around £65. I would post a linky but that might get me banned

my mobo doesnt support DDR2,3 for regular RAM modules....would it support it for the gfx card?
i mean my ram modules are DDR 226
thanks!
It'll be fine, the memory type on the graphics card doesn't need to be the same as you have on your motherboard

ahhh excellent, sounded strange...but wanted to make sure
thanks ;)
loookin into the 7300GT now ;)
si the 7300GS any good?
opting for the XFX model or the BFG
XFX - cheaper
bfg- more aria points :P
Seriously mate, the 7300gt 256mb ddr3 is the mutts nutts for around £65. It will BLOW the 7300gs out of the water so to speak for an extra £20 or so you would be stupid to overlook it.
Look here are some results from review sites (sorry Lucy if this breaks any rules i would beat some sense into this chap with a haddock but i don't know where he lives :P )

The 7300gt ddr3's are beating 7600gs's imagine what the would do to a 7300gs??
Is my point getting through yet??
Aria is a great online retailer and i don't like suggesting people go elsewhere but, unfortunately, they don't stock everything :(

lack of money :(
:( Sorry to hear that mate, but it's only £20ish more can you not stretch to that?? Go without beer for a week or 2 it will be worth it i guarentee (and the numbers in the above linkies prove it too).
Seriously though mate if there is any way you can find the extra £££ needed to go for the ddr3 gt i can't recommend it enough it is THE buget(ish) card to go for.

ill do an extra shift for my parents, and ill need a DVI cable. cos you know why ;) - yup almost definately getting the 7300GT 128 ddr3 :D
They come with dvi to vga convertors mate so if the one you order has twin dvi outputs you just plug the convertor in and roberts your mothers brother you can use it on a normal monitor input.
Thats 256mb matey ;)

suppose ill get the 256 one :D
and wait another day or so
:P
[quote:b45c25cdbd=\"PrivatePyle\"]HANG on... so the 7300 GT is a 256mb ddr3 card for less than a hundred quid... my 7800 GT is also a 256mb ddr3 and was considerably more than a hundred quid. what kind of framerates did you get on your card again mac, have nvidia been a bit cheeky? obv there are going to be more pixel pipelines etc on my card, but just how wide is the gap in terms of fps rather than £s!?[/quote:b45c25cdbd]
There is quite a big step up in performance from the 7300gt to the 7800gt dunno about framerates but mine scores almost 5.5k in 3d05 and 2860 in 3d06, hows that compare??
woohooo ordered the one matt recommended, but the 128 model, cos im cheap!
Who's matt and what did they recommend?? :P
The 128 version shouldn't make a whole lot of difference unless you are running silly high resolutions, upto 1280x1024 and i doubt it will make a much of a difference.

Im going to but the 512 version for £82 in AGP. Its looks amazing. Unless i can see something better.
POV Nvidia 7300GT - 512Mb - AGP
is what it says on the aria agp site, will this be good? coz its only got a 350mhz core, 532 MHz ram. Dual 400 Mhz RAMDAC,
http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductInfoComm.asp?ID=24299
If its not that good, im going for a X1600 PRO.
d'oh

nfs most wanted loooks sooooooo goood
time for GRAW 8)
8)
Well was it worth the wait?
And do some benchmarking / overclocking with it. I got mine to 600mhz core and 800mhz memory speed, i assume yours will do similar.
maaaaaaaaaaaybe :P
nfs MW can take fullll settings
GRAW - near enough full setings @ 1024*768
GRAW (http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/6257/graw1fj6.jpg)

Here's my scores, though these are running the gfx card at the speeds in my sig, 600 core 800 mem (which it is happy to run ALL the time).
Have you overclocked yours yet?
Edit:- Ignore the overall score in 3d06 i have a dual core cpu and that, i think, makes quite a difference to the overall score just compare the scres for gfx, SM2 and SM3. And get that 7300gt overclocked its begging for it.
hey dude
tried alittle o/c-ing
got this (http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/9923/desktopdittoszm0.jpg).. dunno if the green blotches are meant to be there :?
but tried it under +25 (525/725) ...and applied, no green blotches, gonna reboot. see what happens :D
nope...change back (500/700) :(
re-edit
ok, managed to get 600/801 see this (http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/4765/ocdittono2.jpg) :D
nice one 8) , now run some benchies at that speed, mine doesn't artifact (green blobs etc) at all at those speeds, which is why i run them 24/7

wooohooo :D 8)
Nice results mate 8) there doesn't seem to be a massive difference between the 128mb and 256mb version does there? Some of it might well be down to my dual core cpu anyway. Good going mate, great little card aint they for what.. £50?
hah yeah :D
57 quid
awesome find, thanks :p
