Go to programs and features, and uninstall any ati programs there, if i remember, the catalyst install manager is there, it uninstalls it all.

are you overclocking?

is the memory at the correct voltage?

no mate this is a completely standard kind of setup that i built, here's the spec........

asus p5vd2 vm-se, 2gb corsair xms2 pc5300, e2180 1.86 duo core cpu, sapphire ati radeon 2400hd pro graphics card, 160gb and 80gb seagate barracude hard drives, dvdrw, fsp group 115w psu

115w psu?

If correct that could be the issue!

bren

115w psu?

If correct that could be the issue!

typing error, 215w

does that change anything or is that still the route of the problem?

mid you, in another thread i made about this graphics card problem i said that windows kept crashing due to graphics display drivers and it would not, and still wont play youtube videos in full screen mode unless the hardware acceleration is not selected, which of course means the dam pc aint even using the graphics card!!!( i hope you know what i mean by that matey?)

215w is still very low, try only running os drive and no opticle drives, amy be only 1 stick of ram, to reduce power draw! maybe even reduce the processor multi

cant change any bios settings, cheap mobo = totally locked!!!

i'll buy a new PSU instead. as this is just a general use pc it needs to be (very!) cheap. can anyone recommend a certain one at all?

That Fortron Source should be well enough for that system. They are quality PSUs, they make some of Antec, Sparkle Power, OCZ, Nexus and Zalman's units.

You'd be sureprised how much (or little) a computer consumes

Powered Hardware Details:

Intel X3360 (C1 stepping) @ 8.5x400=3.40 GHz
266/667 MHz Strap CPU Vcc=1.12500
NB Core=1.370 CPU VTT=1.310

DFI LT P35-TR2 (no modifications)

eVGA 8800 GTSG92 512 meg
(770/1,923/2,000 MHz : Core/Shader/Memory)

Corsair Dominator DDR2-1066 (TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF)
2x 2Gb @ 5-5-5-15 (performance level 6) @ 1,000 MHz (4:5) @ 2.100V

Corsair HX620
2x HDs (seagates, one a 10th generation and the other an 11th)
1x DVDROM
4x120 mm Tricool fans (came with the p182 case) all on low
1x120 mm S-Flex SFF21F (1600 RPM) on the HS
1x40 mm silent fan on the NB

Kill-a-Watt Readings
Idle in BIOS screens - 158 W
Idle in BIOS screens with both HDD's unplugged - 144 W

Idle (with speedstep active in XP x64) - 137 W
Load (prime95 v25.6 small FFT) - 213 W
Load (prime95 v25.6 large FFT) - 216 W
Load (prime95 v25.6 blend) - 210 W

That PSU should be able to cope with that quite easily

Depends on how much wear and tear the PSU has, the efficiency decreases over time.

Thats why I suggested trying to lower the requirement by removing some components and trying again or trying an alternate psu

Interesting stuff mate. so if the PSU isn't the problem, would you agree its the graphics card from what i've explained in previous posts?

the PSU is about 8 months old.(if that)

have you got any ideas about the graphics card and the pc? why it keeps bluescreening and saying on restart its the graphics display drivers etc etc

Have you another card to test in the pc? or another pc to test the card in?

only way to rule it out

not really no. god dam it

what about if i deinstall all the drivers and take the graphics card out, boot it up wit out it in then reinstall it all again, hardware and software in case i missed something?

or is that a stupid pointless idea?

by the way just looked at the PSU and it says.....

(+3.3v & 5v = 115w Max) total output continuous shall not exceed 250w

so now i'm confused, what wattage is it?!?!

PeterStoba

If that system has the 512mb card, and a few fans it should use 195W (not 100% accurate) so the PSU is actually at it's limits, if you are correct assuming it is a 225W

the card is only the 256mb version mate ;) right, just checked up, the PSU is definately 250w

so that rules out the option that it could have been that. we're making some progress now! :D

now it comes back to the original question, why can't i view youtube videos in fullscreen mode unless i disable the graphics accelerator and why does the pc keep bluescreening with video hardware errors and display drivers errors?

thanks for your help so far lads, really appreciate it!

i dont really want to be taking apart my other pc to swap it over then install drivers etc

isn't there a way i can run a scan to check for hardware/software/driver errors?

all i want to be able to do is view youtube video in full screen mode at higher resolution using my graphics card.

i'm sick of pressing full screen and just getting a black and white test signal.

has anone got any other ideas what-so-ever???????

check the system event log?

right, finally got round to doing this. check this out, this seems to be the reason that the pc crashes everyday. i checked the times etc for when the pcc freezes against these. as you can see there are so many errors everyday its unreal.

is this any help to anyone so that they can then help me sort it?

let me know, thanks!
