View Full Version : Core 2 Duo
Hi I have just purchased an Asus P5LD2 SE motherboard from Ebay as I want to build an Intel PC ( first Intel build ). Will it take a Core 2 Duo CPU? the Asus web site says it's core 2 ready. If not then it will have to be a dual core Pentium D it's not that important. Thanks.

IMHO ifAsus say it is, you should be ok
If I recall correctly the original P5LD2 didn't support Core 2 Duo because it didn't have the correct VRM spec (and perhaps there was something at a chipset level too with early rev 945's). A second revision was released that allowed it to work.
Whether it will or not depends on whether it's a newer P5LD2 or not. It's worth a shot anyway. If it doesn't work, just sell the board on and get a newer one. The P5LD2 SE Rev2 should be fine for entry level/midrange 800FSB/1066FSB Core 2 Duo's so long as you have no intention of overclocking (more to do with the 1066 ones).

You are indeed correct
from Asus' website
