Are there no holes above the board that you can run the ATX12v through?

A Ginger Sheep
02-03-11, 21:41
nope, the top fans are pushed tight against the motherboard anyway so room their at all

Thats a shame. would have been so much better as you could hide the ATX12v then...

Depending on how thick the cable is you could remove the board, run it under then put the board back again.

but he cannot run the cable between the fans and the motherboard...

yep, no gap between the fans and motherboard however i may just take out the top fans and do that some day, just not today lol so will keep that in mind as a future option, thanks.

u can run the 8 pin cable through the cpu backplate cut out and under the mobo.

isnt there a tiny gap between the fans u can get it through?

thats good cable management IMO!
my case has the same insides, and i have the same PSU, and its less than easy :(!

where have u hiden the unused cables?
i have like a whole row of molex and sata's im not using lol :p!

Looks better, whats the blue cable in the left from the top past the psu.

a badly braided fan cable :)

had to use a sleeve thats way too big as the stuff was **** and frayed as soon as you touched it pretty much :( will get around to re-doing it at some stage though when i get decent stuff rather than cheap junk off ebay

Can you not run it across the top of the case instead of down and then hide the end in one of the bays.

lucas4
02-03-11, 22:52
due to the case ur working with (i know how hard it is :()!
id say that is a brilliant effort, and id give it 8 out of 10!
u've managed to keep the mobo/cpu/gpu area clean and hidden most of the cables behind the HDD's :D!

bet the side panel was solid to get back on :p

try and move that blue cable coming from the 212+ tho.
wont it go in the mobo cpu fan header?
also run that massive blue fan cable down behind the mobo where the 8 pin is :D!

Looks fine to me, nothing to fret over. As long as its not a jungle of cables restricting airflow, there's nothing wrong with it.

Nah, actually yours is pretty darn good, well done.

thanks but have to give credit to the other guys who pointed out routing the cables behind the motherboard :)

also the picture of that really neat build earlier, the guy has a modular psu and right angled sata connections which is why it was so neat as well as having the bare minimum in his case which is why it was possible for it to be that neat, still a really good job though

Added after 11 minutes:

thought I should post the back too just to give an idea of the mess back there :)

have a look about for those little self adhesive cable tie mounts, should help tighten stuff up at the back. They're available on ebay and other places

You drill a few holes 'Through' the motherboard!! You will have nice cable management but a non working PC! lol

Dear Mr A.G. Sheep,

Congrats on a fine effort. The back of my case looks very similar and untidy. But it matters not a bit.
If I may make one suggestion, I would put back one of those top mounted fans. After all you only need a small amount of space to get the cables through. You could keep the cooling similar then. :)

A big thank you too for something that I have never considered in several years of compulsive cable tidying. Hard drives do not need to be orientated so that the cables are instantly accessible. :o

Sincerely,
A. Knee. Ligament.

thanks and glad i could be of help :) also I managed to break the power molex connection on my fan controller so cant use that and the case controller itself can only control four so going to leave it off until i get a new controller :)

nice 1 :thumb:

where did u hide all the unused cables?
and how on earth do u get the side panel on with that fat 24 pin where it is? i have to run mine through the little "dent" that NZXT purposely make for it !

For braiding have a look at MDPC. You can buy braiding from them, it's not cheap but I can attest to the high quality and tight weave.

Watch a few tutorials and get yourself a nice heat gun for the heat-shrink. I use an Iroda Micro-Therm which is the bees knees.

A Ginger Sheep

yeah i need a proper heat gun, was trying to use a hair dryer and a lighter lol

do you have your cpu fan into a fan controller?

I always let the motherboard control this one myself

A Ginger Sheep
03-03-11, 16:14
yeah its on the case controller. the case has a controller with two dials on the front of the case to adjust fan speed with two fans being able to connect to each so I have four fans in the system at the moment.

Sniperdude
03-03-11, 16:24
I recommend you let the motherboard control the CPU fan speed
and use the controller for the case fans

it takes the OMG I forgot I am using my CPU must turn the fans up out of the picture

all my case fans are always set to about 800-900 RPM this keeps everything cool and the CPU can adjust when needed

I have controlled the CPU fan the way you are now and I found it to be a pain in the rear

Looks good but I think you are going to want to redo the braiding anyway :)

Mini-tutorial I did for the forum (http://forums.aria.co.uk/showthread.php?p=100996#post100996). There are loads of better tutorials out there I am sure but this one is mine :)

Oh and here's some epic warranty voidage (http://forums.aria.co.uk/showthread.php?p=101230#post101230). You can see that I too made the folly of going for the cheapy blue braiding.

A Ginger Sheep
03-03-11, 17:47
yeah braiding will get done at some stage when I have money and time and I have neither atm so will redo it at some stage in the future but it'll have to do for the meanwhile as at least it still looks a bit better than bare wire.

been trying to route my cables in my nzxt m59, its taken by far the longest amount of time on the build, almost 5 hours!! looking mint though.

i just wish theyd make the cables on the PSU's a little longer, all they need is a couple of cm more for me

I am also just about to get some LED's for inside my Nzxt lexa S as that lovely big window seems to be getting wasted at the moment with no lighting in there.

What cooler are you going to get, theres several I am looking at but not sure if they would fit in the Lexa?
