Hi, i am having trouble with my pc finding a internet connection, i am using an Ethernet cable going straight into the motherboard slot, but when troubleshooting the problem it says that windows cannot detect a properly installed network adapter?

My Motherboard is a MSI P67-GD55, does this motherboard not have a built in internet connection? Do i have to buy a network adapter?

Any help please?

One would hope not! Do you know how to access device manager? If so, open it and expand "Network adapters" and let me know what's listed under it. I suspect you need to install the Mobo drivers off the cd.

I don't see network adapters, when i expand other devices it says Ethernet controller.

Indeed, grab the mobo drivers off the cd/dvd. That should sort it. Make sure you install ethernet.

Use the CD to find your Network adapter driver or Ethernet controller software and install that. You might have to reboot your computer, once you've done that your internet connection should appear in the bottom right of the screen, showing a PC and a cable meaning you're connected.

Did you install the driver I suggested?

Yes i updated the drivers. Now the icon down in the status bar has a yellow triangle in it.

Right click and repair the network. That means it's installed but a non valid IP address.

Yay, i finally got it, thank you, been trying to figure this out for hours.

There are 4 devices in other devices, 2 USB Controllers and PCI simple communications controller and SM Bus controller, will i just update these of the disc like i did with the network or search online?

Use the CD to install the chipset drivers, then Windows 7 will probably find an update for it at somepoint anyway :)

Exactly. I do recommend paying a visit to the board makers website and locate the most recent version for the drivers and install them.

Glad it's all sorted

Ok so the SM Bus controller won't update from CD, so do i just go to MSI website and update the drive from there?

Yeah, the most compatible and recent drivers should be there.
