WD makes good drives. Reliable and high performing.
Though don't expect very high performance from Green drives, but they are well worth the cheap price.

They're not meant to be high performance, simply storage drives that'll be accessed once a while. Uber spindle speed/ read write speeds ect. really aren't needed with storage drives tbh.

+1, the read/write speeds are excellent though, i was getting 105mb/s avg whilst copying to the drive via esata.

I am not talking about SSD vs HDD, but different HDD lines within Western Digital.

In terms of Western Digital, the Black Caviar drives has best performance, and the Blue Drives somehwere in the middle, wheras Green drives are quite basic.

It does make a difference, especially time for spinning up from idle state. But the black Caviars carries 15-20% price premium.

dont make much difference to me..they just store my files.

I could definitely go for some SSD deals. They're just out my price range now, but a small SSD just for boot-up and core programmes for under £50 would be amazing!

Got replacement bluray laser, fitted it (thank god for You tube) now working fine.
I am back on track trying to get the best 500gig hard drive for the PS3 now.
Any suggestions out there???
I have been looking at the 500GB Samsung HM500JI Spinpoint M7 2.5", and the Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500GB, 2.5"
Both similar in price but which would do the job best (bearing in mind PS3's get hot.
