heigh ho
got a letter this morning from talktalk telling me that they've junked my old tiscali email address, and that i should go and set up a new email address with my account.
fine & dandy, simples, done.
now the question; when i'm setting up a router on my line from now on, do i now use the new details i just set up?? even though i used a gmail account that has nothing to do with my isp ?
and should i go and change my router now that i've changed my email ?
or is the email i just assigned to my account solely there for the purposes of online billing? (< but that cant be right can it, cos my old email has been junked..)
thank you :)

router set up requires the standard log in they provide (yourtelno@talktalk.net). the other email address is just for personal use, you get pop mail etc. handy if you didn't have gmail :-)

yeah, that's why i'm slightly confuddled.
the standard login email i was provided with for setting up my router was the one that i just got told today has been trashed, which is why they made me give them a new one for my acc / bills etc
so now that my original 'xxxx@tiscali.com' email is dead, what should i be using to set up my router ??
still use that ^ dead one ?

yeah, that ones purely for the router iirc, part of the log in verification (can only connect on your tel line). there's no inbox or anything, its not an email address per se

are you on ADSL or ADSL 2 as if your on ADSL 2 there is no need for details with most providers

not a clue tbh
i'm still not sure about this dead email address, the new one which they've confirmed is my new "login", and what it means for setting up my connection

Your connection is already set up i'm guessing, if its working there's no need to change anything, the other email address is just another email address. You'll most likely be able to create a few pop enabled email addresses for the people in the household but all will access the web through the router using the initial address which will be your home phone number @talktalk.net. Your router will need that one but its all it's now used for.
