Why? you have a need for all those ports? :D

I must admit it does look like a good layout.

can you say over kill?

i can see this eating into the x48 extreme board sales and that looks nice too.

nice find lust.

I use 0 ports like that

But it's an excellent board layout, good features, crossifre and should be a good overclocker

Nice board. Excellent feature set and obviously it's been castrated slightly to prevent it from totally killing X48 sales, particularly with the reduction to Dual 8x/8x Crossfire, which is still a step up from the P35 anyway though.

May consider a P45 depending on when they start showing up. My CPU's got plenty of my potential and my motherboard really needs replacing. The P45 DS5 looks very nice as well and presumably a fair bit less.

These boards will have to be competitively priced given that decent X38 boards are around for just £120.

That's a joke!

you think the x48 will run hot???

X48 doesn't run awfully hot. Most of today's chipsets are fairly toasty runners but it's not a big deal.

mul you seen that pic??

Yep and it's completely unnecessary. I refuse to believe that the P45 "needs" that kind of NB cooling. Got to remember that gimmicks tend to be added to the upper range of each chipset family to cater to those with more money than sense.

it does make a change from the cheap, bare min they tend to stick on as chipset cooling tho.

i think it looks quite good but i also think it will end up drawing the heat out the back of a gpu but thats nothing new.

It's for benchmarkers and enthusiasts only

its a good idea in theory as it will keep the chipset heat away from the power regs but if it works only time will tell.

thanks for the secnod link lusty ;)
