As my system is presently down, am desperately in need of the information on the Hard drive. Can I get an external IDE HDD casing to connect to a USB port of either a laptop or another desktop or what is the easy way out? Please help.

Depends on what brought your system to a halt?

If it is the HDD, then it takes some fancy software or a trip to Aria for us to recover it ;)

If its just a dead PSU, mobo or alike, grab one of these http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductsList.asp?Name=BAY-IB-350-BL-BL slap your HDD in it and pop it round to your mates or on yer laptop and it will just show up in 'My Computer' as E: drive or similar and you can broswe it as normal.

Hope you get what you need.

Or....If Skint....and you have a nice mate...who doesnt mind...takin his box to bits....ask him to stick your HDD in his box as a slave drive...and possibly bang all ya stuff on CD/DVD...in his machine.

Scrap that if its a 2.5 Lappy HDD...and do what m0nk3y say...!

Thank you for the advice. I will surely like to buy the recommeded ICY Box. One thing I like to ask.

i have checked through the varieties and found one is to USB2, will this accept USB 1/ or do I need to by the ordinary one with USB.
Another one is to USB2 or SATA or USB to Fireware. Can I get one of those to USB2 to eiher Fireware or SATA and sorry to ask. What is SATA? Iwill be buying this on Saturday, so please kindly reply before then.

Thanks
