Ok, so I'm just in the process of looking at what speed we can get at our house..
When I did a check of services last week, everywhere said that the maximum speed we could get would be 8mb. However, I just happened to see this on SamKnows:
Your exchange should have ADSL2+ services installed by the 28th of February 2011
So - doing some more investigation:
BT is saying that we can currently get 17mb here.
Eclipse (our local ISP) is saying that we can get a maximum of 8mb
Virgin (who we are currently with) says on their website that we can get an 'up to 20mb connection'. It used to say we could only get 8mb.
However, our router only syncs at 7.6mb and we normally get a maximum download speed of about 3mb. Currently, our download speed is around 0.8mb (it used to be a constant 7mb when we were with BT)..
SO - who/what do I believe. Surely if Virgin were able to give us 'up to 20mb', then it would automatically switch over to that speed?
