As most of you know my mates getting a gaming laptop.

Hes settled on the asus g50, or g51 the model with a 260m gtx 1gb.

Now all id like to know is i can find him affordable ones with the 8800, 9800 and 260 gtx.

But can someone tell me the ati ones. Like whats there equivalent to these cards. Maybe i can find a cheaper deal fr him.

remember that laptop graphics dont have the same type of performance as desktop graphics. for example the 5870 mobility graphics has about the same performance as a desktop 5750/5770

You'd probably have to pay the VAT on it and a handling fee as well.

Probs £150 - 160 total.

Import depends on how much they insured it for.

I'm not sure thats right mate.

Import tax is the same as VAT on goods from non EU countries.

He'll have to pay at least the VAT it would be in the UK.

Thats £109, then he'll most likely get a handling fee of around £9 - 12 as well and any other duty they feel like adding.

Its often not a lot cheaper to buy abroad.

i couldnt find any in the uk so just bought that one.

I bought it wasnt for me tho was for my mate. We sold most of his stuff between here and ebay.

Still ened up about 280 in the hole because of import tax. Will find out about how much tomorrow.

Yeah i'm really into my American Football, well the Colts at least and its hard to source the proper gear over here, so i ordered jersey's, hoodies, t shirts form the USA and it cost me about £66 in TAX and £16 handling.

The order was only for $200 so about £110 at the time.

Ripoff.
