It's funny because is he didn't have that awful touch moments before, the ball wouldn't have gone to Scholes; who then played it out wide to Nani, which means no wonder goal.

Its also funny because if Mrs Rooney didn't get in the back of that Honda Civic after several babychams in January 1985 then no wondergoal.

Amazing how the world works.

it's a decent goal, but so what?
nikica jelavic scored a better overhead kick just a couple games ago, nobody's hailing that as "bestest goal ever" or whatever

Because he didn't pull it off to dent a title rivals blow, the same rivals that happen to live in a council house across the city.

depends what your calling best and who its best for i mean he shined it into the net and how much can you control a ball you shin overhead into the net as i said alot of luck involved in that!!

but for utd supporters i am sure that was his best goal ever especially seeing you couldn't hit the side of a barn at the moment

As much as it's pains me to mention it, but I thought Berbatov's Overhead kick V Liverpool was the better of the two.

Good goal, takes technique to do, even if you shin it but.......

watercooled's link shows some that are way better.

Marco Van Basten's much lauded overhead kick was off his shin... im pretty sure hitting a ball on the end of your foot like that is asking for metatarsal related damage....

There's an element of luck to any bicycle kick, no-one could do it every time. It's the technique to get the body shape right along with the timing and reading the flight of the ball. The connection is always going to have an element of luck about it so whether he shinned it or not it doesn't matter.

I actually thought Nani's goal was class too. Controlling a difficult ball, then having the burst of pace and strength with a cool left footed finish. I bet there are more sunday league players that could have done what Rooney did, than what Nani did at that level of football

i agree thats what i was trying to get across more people could fluke a overhead kick, there are alot more skillful ways to score a goal than that!
