I recently purchased a Pinnacle 3010ix freeview capture card which I promptly installed into a Dell E521 pc.

After installing the card, windows won't start, I get the bios screens and then the screen goes black.

If I press F2 and go into the setup screen it registers a multimedia card plugged into slot 2 (PCI express x1 slot), as soon as I remove the card windows will start normally. I was wondering if it was a fault with the card or is there something else I need to do.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like some sort of conflict to me, irq maybe? I believe it should work in a x4 slot or even x16 slap it in a spare slot if you have one.

Just an update, the issue with windows loading was resolved by updating the Bios.

Thanks for your help.

I am glad I managed to get it resolved. Updating the Bios was a nightmare though.

I finally twigged that as well as running it as administrator (Vista user), I had to disable Driver Signature Enforcement if I wanted to run the bios update.
